Position: Assistant Manager – Infrastructure Advisory
Our Infrastructure advisory practice deals with complex procurement advisory cases and has deep expertise in major public infrastructure sectors. We add value by supporting clients in structuring successful projects that can reach financial close, and we lead various sectors in the Kuwait market. As trusted advisors, we provide expert guidance on complex matters ranging from strategy formulation through transaction implementation across the full project lifecycle of PPP and lead financial advisory.
Role and Responsibilities
You will assume an active role on the below
As an Assistant Manager, you will have a significant team management role in delivering on mandates. The practice focuses on key closely-related service offerings:
- Infrastructure planning and transaction strategy - Helping clients determine various infrastructure and transaction scenarios (PPP, JV, outsource, long-term contracts) to best deliver value and service
- (Lead) Financial advisory - Evaluating financing needs, structures and sources or directly assisting in the raising of capital
- Procurement - Transaction advisory - Assisting clients in developing and evaluating options related to long-term performance-based contacts. These contracts can run into multiple billion-dollar commitments
- Project risk advisory -Assisting clients understand and quantify the various risks associated with a large project, including market, construction, procurement, labour and currency
- Contract implementation support – Supporting the successful implementation and delivery of infrastructure projects during or after the financial closing
Responsibilities
- Identify issues and form hypotheses and solutions in a structured approach
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, conducting complex analysis on excel, and developing financial models
- Extracting meaningful insights, making recommendations, and delivering clear a clear and comprehensive feasibility studies, business cases, and strategic / business case
- Assuming responsibility of deliverables and collaborating with team members to deliver solutions
- Leading content development for deliverable(s), including preparing business proposals and presentations
Practice Development
You are expected to:
- Work closely with other Managers, Directors and Partners
- Train junior staff and contribute to the overall skills enhancement and experience of the sector to build and develop a high-quality team
- Manage clients proactively, making client service a main priority and culture of the practice
Business Development
You will support the development of our infrastructure engagements by:
- Supporting business development in both public and private sector markets
- Actively participating in the responding to Requests for Proposal for advisory mandates on infrastructure
- Supporting positioning the team and KPMG's profile in the marketplace and develop business through industry involvement, contribution to internal and external publications, and presentation at conferences and industry events
In Summary
- Previous experience advising on infrastructure projects (public or private sector) will be required
- Experience in financial, commercial and/or strategic advice including procurement options assessment, financial modelling, and analysis, preparation of commercial principles and input to contract documentation, development of market engagement/tender strategies and tender documentation, bid evaluation and negotiation advice.
- Comfortable working within a project team environment, producing high-quality deliverables, managing and motivating teams
- Ability to contribute to business development
Key requirements - what you bring to the role in details:
To be able to realize this growth in revenue and staffing, KPMG requires an individual who meets a very specific profile. This individual must have and/or be able to demonstrate:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or other respective fields with proven analytical direction, from a reputable university
- MBA or Master's degree in Finance or other related fields, from a distinguished institute
Skills and Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is mandatory, fluency in Arabic would be a strong plus (although not mandatory)
- Minimum of 5-6 years specialized (post-bachelors) experience in financial analysis and structuring of infrastructure transactions and project financing in the public and private sectors. This includes experience in investment and advisory on major infrastructure capital projects as well as managing on business case planning and procurement methodology
- The experience should include significantexposure in a Big-4 financial advisory, a strategy consulting firm, or a similar role in investment advisory/banking, infrastructure fund, or PPP developers
- Experience working on bid teams or for the public sector on Public-Private Partnerships (DB, EPC, BOT to DBFOT) and privatizations and assessing project or bids for awarding respective project agreements
- Proven experience in the development of transaction documents (RFQ, RFP) and contracts
- Experience in building financial models, performing due diligence on portfolio assets, and leading team presentations
- A history of project finance transactions with the demonstrated ability to deliver and close deals in atleastone of the following sectors:
- Transportation (Roads, Airports, Rail)
- Social Infrastructure (Healthcare, Education, Housing, Waste)
- Utilities (Water, Power & Renewables)
- Telecoms
- Experience in more sectors is an advantage
- Project management skills demonstrated with experiences managing individual and multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of the full lifecycle activities of infrastructure asset projects
- Ability to manage business development, including through competitive proposals

- Goal driven - focused on helping the client to understand issues and resolve key questions, ability to drive through to an outcome and to gain stakeholder support in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity
- Strong communication and presentation skills demonstrated in working with senior stakeholders in government, financial institutions and the private sector, with excellent prose and PowerPoint writing skills and sense of design
- Proven track record at managing multiple and competing priorities
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to communicate and effectively engage with a diverse group of clients
- Willingness and flexibility to expand and apply skills to new applications and industries, to work collaboratively within Infrastructure Advisory across lines of service
