Purpose:
To lead and oversee the administration, performance, availability, security, and continuous improvement of the organization's database environment. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise database solutions, ensuring high availability, data integrity, optimal performance, and compliance with organizational standards while providing technical leadership and guidance to IT teams and stakeholders.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of enterprise database platforms, including Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring reliability, scalability, and optimal performance
- design and implement database architectures, standards, and best practices to support business growth, operational requirements, and future technology initiative
- monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize database environments to ensure high availability and efficient utilization of system resource
- span, manage, and execute database upgrades, patches, security updates, and version migrations while minimizing business disruption
- develop, implement, and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and data protection
- establish and maintain database security controls, including user access management, role assignments, privilege administration, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirement
- perform regular database health checks and capacity planning activities to identify risks, forecast future requirements, and ensure long-term sustainabilit
- lead database troubleshooting activities and provide advanced technical support to IT teams by diagnosing and resolving complex database-related incidents and performance issue
- collaborate with infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity, and other technology teams to ensure seamless integration and support of business application
- develop and maintain database documentation, operational procedures, technical standards, and knowledge repositories to ensure consistency and operational excellence
- evaluate and recommend new database technologies, automation tools, and optimization opportunities to improve efficiency and enhance database operation
- ensure databases comply with information security standards, audit requirements, and organizational governance framework
- Lead root cause analysis activities for critical incidents and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issue
