Position Objective:
Deliver OSP design knowledge, expertise, and quality assurance capabilities for civil and fiber infrastructure projects by validating survey outputs, developing implementation-ready designs, preparing engineering documentation, and ensuring compliance with technical standards, project requirements, and industry best practices.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Review and examine site survey reports for civil and fiber infrastructure to validate the accuracy and completeness of survey documents.
- Analyze field survey outputs, GIS records, route information, existing infrastructure data, and engineering requirements to identify design constraints and project requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to confirm survey results, resolve discrepancies, and update design records and inventory information as required.
- Develop civil and fiber network designs using collected survey data, technical specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, route layouts, construction plans, and supporting documentation using QGIS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or similar engineering design tools.
- Design and validate fiber routes, duct networks, manholes, handholes, cable pathways, and associated OSP civil infrastructure.
- Ensure designs comply with local regulations, national standards, client requirements, and telecom industry best practices.
- Generate and review Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for civil and fiber designs to ensure all required materials, labor, equipment, and construction activities are accurately captured.
- Coordinate with survey teams, implementation teams, operations teams, contractors, and vendors to validate design feasibility and construction requirements.
- Maintain clear documentation of design changes, survey validations, approvals, BOQ revisions, and engineering updates for future reference and audit purposes.
- Review construction feedback and field updates to ensure design documentation remains accurate and current throughout project execution.
- Mark up and validate As-Built redline drawings to accurately capture deviations, adjustments, and final implemented network configurations.
- Support reconciliation of design records with as-built documentation, physical infrastructure, and inventory records.
- Identify design risks, including route conflicts, inaccurate survey information, missing documentation, constructability issues, or compliance gaps.
- Ensure all designs, drawings, BOQs, and supporting documentation are delivered within agreed timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of telecommunications experience with at least 5 years in OSP design and engineering roles within a telecom organization.
- Strong knowledge of OSP civil and fiber infrastructure, design methodologies, engineering standards, related processes, and industry best practices.
- Experience reviewing field survey outputs, validating infrastructure records, and developing implementation-ready civil and fiber designs.
- Strong understanding of fiber networks, duct infrastructure, route planning, construction drawings, BOQ preparation, and As-Built documentation.
- Experience with GIS platforms (QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar), AutoCAD, and market-leading OSP design tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and validate engineering drawings, survey reports, route plans, and telecom infrastructure documentation.
- Experience coordinating with field teams, implementation teams, contractors, and vendors during design and deployment activities.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language.
