We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Head of Sharia Audit to lead and oversee the Company's Sharia audit function. The successful candidate will ensure that all business activities, products, operations, and processes comply with Sharia principles, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the annual Sharia audit plan in alignment with regulatory and governance requirements.
- Conduct independent Sharia audits across all business functions, products, and operational activities.
- Assess compliance with approved Sharia rulings, Fatwas, and guidelines issued by the Internal Sharia Supervision Committee (ISSC).
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Sharia governance controls and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and corrective action plans.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Coordinate with regulators, external auditors, and the ISSC on Sharia compliance matters.
- Provide guidance and awareness to business units on Sharia audit requirements and best practices.
- Report significant Sharia non-compliance issues and governance concerns to senior management and relevant committees.
- Stay updated on regulatory developments, Sharia standards, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Sharia, Islamic Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in Islamic Finance, Sharia Audit, Internal Audit, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Sharia audit, internal audit, compliance, or Islamic financial services.
- Strong knowledge of UAE regulations, Sharia Governance Framework, and Islamic insurance (Takaful) principles.
- Excellent analytical, auditing, and risk assessment skills.
- Strong report-writing, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail.
