Atkins-Realis has an exciting full-time career opportunity for an Engineering Manager for an important HVDC project in the Middle East.

The candidate will be based in Jeddah and manage an engineering team in the region and will deal with engineering related activities with Contractors and clients the candidate will work in a fast-paced international consulting environment with excellent career growth opportunities.

Managing the project engineering team, the resource shall have the following responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Manage the multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Interface with project stakeholders: clients, contractors
  • Communicate and coordinate engineering activities with contractors

Project management

  • Monitor the progress of engineering and procurement.
  • Monitor the review of engineering documents submitted by the various contractors.
  • Participate in meetings with the various stakeholders.
  • Interface and support the management for the resolution of claims, variation orders.

Engineering management

  • Design review management with the various discipline leads.
  • Detailed design reviews of OEM design documentation and drawings
  • Take the lead in the review of HVDC electrical submittals.
  • Prepare analysis and provide recommendation on project related issues.

Interface management

  • Manage the design related topics in coordination with the various stakeholders.
  • Manage the interfaces meetings.

Construction follow up

  • Provide support to the construction team in topics related to design changes, resolution of design issues, etc.

The resources shall have the following experience and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, from a recognized institution (BS. SA or Master's, an asset)
  • 15 + years of relevant experience, particularly related to HVDC equipment and converter stations (Valves, Power Transformers, Filters, Cooling Systems, Control Systems, Electrode Design, HVDC Cables, etc.)
  • Experience in FACTS projects (SVC, STATCOM, Series Compensation), an asset.
  • Experience in conceptual and detailed design of High Voltage AC Substations and Cables, an asset.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results.
  • Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Client focused, highly autonomous, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Fluency in English language, both spoken and written. Additional languages will be considered an asset.
  • Availability for traveling.
