Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineer

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Client or Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi.

Job Purpose

The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating all electrical engineering activities for ADNOC Offshore projects, ensuring that designs and deliverables comply with ADNOC Offshore standards, project specifications, international codes, safety requirements, budget, and schedule commitments.

The role provides technical leadership during FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Start-Up phases for offshore platforms, substations, process facilities, pipelines, and brownfield modifications.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering Leadership

  • Lead a team of electrical engineers and designers for offshore oil & gas projects.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate all electrical engineering activities.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of electrical engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project electrical personnel.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, designs, and technical documents.

Design & Engineering Activities

  • Develop and review:
    • Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
    • Load Lists
    • Power System Studies
    • Electrical Equipment Specifications
    • Lighting and Small Power Systems
    • Earthing and Lightning Protection Systems
    • Cable Routing and Sizing Calculations
    • Hazardous Area Classification Reviews
    • Electrical Layout Drawings
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards and project requirements.
  • Verify design compatibility with offshore environmental conditions.

Power System Engineering

  • Lead electrical system design for:
    • HV, MV, and LV Power Distribution Systems
    • Emergency Power Systems
    • UPS Systems
    • Diesel Generators
    • Gas Turbine Generators
    • Motor Control Centers (MCC)
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
    • Electrical Substations
  • Review and approve:
    • Load Flow Studies
    • Short Circuit Studies
    • Motor Starting Studies
    • Arc Flash Studies
    • Protection Coordination Studies
    • Transient Stability Studies

Vendor and Procurement Support

  • Prepare technical requisitions and datasheets.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical documentation.
  • Resolve vendor technical queries.
  • Ensure vendor equipment complies with ADNOC specifications and project requirements.

  • Ensure smooth resolution of electrical interfaces with existing ADNOC Offshore facilities.

Offshore & Brownfield Projects

  • Lead electrical engineering activities for:
    • Offshore Platforms
    • Wellhead Towers
    • Process Facilities
    • Gas Compression Facilities
    • Artificial Islands
    • Pipeline Facilities
    • Brownfield Modification Projects
  • Support shutdown planning and tie-in activities.
  • Coordinate electrical isolation and energization requirements.

Safety, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • ADNOC Offshore Standards
    • ADNOC Codes of Practice
    • IEC Standards
    • IEEE Standards
    • API Standards
    • NFPA Requirements
    • UAE Regulations
  • Participate in:
    • HAZID Workshops
    • HAZOP Reviews
    • SIL Assessments
    • Constructability Reviews
    • Design Reviews
  • Promote safe engineering practices and risk mitigation.

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Support construction teams during installation activities.
  • Provide technical support for site queries and field modifications.
  • Participate in:
    • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
    • Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
    • Pre-Commissioning Activities
    • Commissioning and Start-up
  • Review commissioning procedures and energization plans.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and review:
    • Electrical Design Basis
    • Engineering Calculations
    • Technical Specifications
    • Construction Work Packs
    • Commissioning Procedures
    • As-Built Documentation
  • Monitor engineering progress and report status to Engineering Management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of Electrical Engineering experience in Oil & Gas projects.
  • Minimum 5-8 years as a Lead Electrical Engineer on offshore EPC/EPCM projects.
  • Proven ADNOC Offshore or major Middle East offshore project experience preferred.
  • Experience in both greenfield and brownfield offshore projects.
