Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role based in Dubai. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing HVAC and mechanical systems, including selecting components, creating technical drawings, and preparing specifications. Daily tasks include performing engineering calculations, supporting CAD modeling, reviewing designs for compliance with industry standards, and contributing to R&D activities for improved energy efficiency and system performance. The role involves coordinating with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and consultants to ensure timely and accurate execution of projects from concept through commissioning. The Mechanical Engineer will also support documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and after-sales technical solutions to maintain system reliability and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
The Mechanical Design Engineer – MEP is responsible for developing and reviewing mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems. The role involves preparing shop drawings, material submittals, and calculations, ensuring compliance with local and international standards. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers, MEP managers, and site teams to provide design support and technical solutions.

Job Responsibilities
Mechanical System Design & Compliance
Develop designs for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, systems based on project requirements.
Ensure all designs comply with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, ADDC, DEWA, ADM, DCD, and ESTIDAMA standards.
Assist in energy efficiency studies and ESCO project design support.
Manage drafting teams assigned for each project
Shop Drawings & Material Submittals
Prepare and modify shop drawings in coordination with the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
Support in preparing material submittals and ensuring alignment with project specifications.
Coordinate with MEP site teams for design-related clarifications.
Mechanical Calculations & Control Systems
Perform cooling load calculations, ventilation sizing, and smoke management system calculations.
Conduct pipe sizing for plumbing, LPG, drainage, and firefighting systems.
Confirm firefighting pump and tank capacities per DCD regulations.
Assist in developing BMS (Building Management System) control strategies and sequences of operation.
Technical Coordination & Reporting
Collaborate with electrical and ELV engineers to ensure proper integration of control systems.
Support the MEP and construction managers by addressing design-related issues.
Prepare technical reports and documentation as required.
Software & Tools Utilization:
Proficiency in, AutoCAD, Revit MEP. and PRİMAVERA
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Experience (5 To 10 Years )
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design for MEP projects.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a consultancy firm is required.
UAE experience is a must, with knowledge of local authority approvals and standards.
Knowledge & Skills
HVAC System Design – Expertise in designing chilled water, DX, VRF,AHU,FAHU and ventilation systems.
Load Calculations & System Sizing – Proficiency in ASHRAE, CIBSE, and SMACNA standards for cooling and ventilation calculations.
Plumbing & Drainage Design – Designing water supply, drainage, and stormwater systems per UPC, IPC, and local regulations.
MEP Coordination – Collaborating with electrical and structural teams for integrated system design.
Software Proficiency – Experience with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Elite, Pipe Flow Expert, and CFD tools.
Energy Efficiency & Sustainability – Implementing green building strategies and ESTIDAMA/LEED compliance.
Ductwork & Piping Design – Knowledge of air distribution, pressure drop calculations, and pipe sizing.
Specification & BOQ Preparation – Writing technical specifications and preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
Authority Approvals & Compliance – Awareness of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense, ADM, ADDC, and DEWA requirements.
