Overview & Responsibilities
An excellent opportunity has become available to join Elliott Group in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, as a Shop Engineer - QA/QC. The successful candidate will set methods and criteria for execution of customer repair work for various types of rotating equipment (Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, Axial Compressors and other associated equipment).
Repair work will include overhauls, general maintenance upgrades, and repairs for OEM and non-OEM equipment.
Job responsibilities:
Plans, budgets, schedules, and executes engineering assignments to meet specified objectives within the time, schedule, cost, and constraint limits established by supervision.
Review customer specifications as needed and provide comments and exceptions to quality, inspection, and testing issues.
Prepare Inspection report, evaluate inspection findings and propose repair recommendations for turbomachinery components.
Support shop personnel in performing inspection checks for 3D and complex components.
Assist in customer witness inspections and tests as necessary.
Executes service engineering assignments that require the use of standard techniques, procedures, computer programs, and criteria, as well as the ability to act independently and make decisions.
Liaison functions with other repair engineering teams to ensure prompt and effective resolution of reported service shop issues for the assigned product line.
Responsible for reverse engineering for non-Elliot products to ensure successful component repair and delivery.
Manage the technical coordinator aspect, which ensures the supplier understands Elliott's requirements.
Initiate drafting requests and approve layout and detail drawings for shop problems and service orders.
In charge of quality control and maintaining the tooling and instrument calibration systems.
Create and maintain quality plans (QAP/ITP) for customers and vendors.
Ability to understand different international industry standards, such as API, ASTM, AISI, ASNT etc.
Conducts and documents periodic reviews of quality department procedures for correctness and adequacy, making revisions as needed.
Responsible for developing repair quality metrics such as nonconformance reports, supplier nonconformance reports.
Direct supervisory responsibilities for shop engineers and shop personnel. The direct supervisory responsibilities include providing direction and guidance to shop team and support in vendor development activities.
Skills & Qualifications:
8 10 years of proven experience in rotating equipment shop engineering or related experience, including but not limited to fabrication, machining, & creation of industrial drawings.
The ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings, service bulletins, service reports and technical reports.
FARO Arm reverse engineering & AUOTOCAD 2-D drafting knowledge, if preferred.
Good knowledge of measuring instruments is preferred.
Must be confident to support and guide technicians and liaise with internal and external customers.
Computer literate with good knowledge of software packages such as excel, word & PowerPoint and the ability to learn Elliott s business software packages
Professional and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
Possesses good work habits, promptness, and dependability.
Self-directed worker, with good work ethic.
Disciplined, able to follow directions and procedures.
Excellent computer skills regarding Word, Excel, and Power Point. basic CAD and FEA abilities, and able to operate with Elliott Business Systems.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Developed time management skills, and the ability to balance demand among various projects.
Ability to make and explain decisions.
