The Senior Accountant should lead and oversee accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with financial regulations, and alignment with organizational, operational, and QHSE standards. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in financial analysis, reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Duties and Essential Job Functions
Management:
- Support the development and maintenance of a strong company image focused on excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain up-to-date professional and technical knowledge in accounting standards and practices.
- Supervise and guide junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.
- Contribute to team objectives and support cross-functional collaboration.
Technical:
- Review and approve journal entries and ensure proper reconciliation of general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Perform detailed analysis of financial statements, expenditures, and revenue accounts.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Monitor financial transactions and ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
- Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely collections and payments.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Ensure accurate preparation of invoices, statements, and financial documentation.
- Analyze variances and provide recommendations to management.
Policy and Procedure:
- Ensure full compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and accounting standards.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure adherence to QHSE policies and organizational procedures.
- Promote a safe and compliant working environment in line with legal requirements.
- Ensure proper utilization and safeguarding of company resources.
Reporting:
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports to management.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA are highly preferred
Professional Experience
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in accounting
- Prior experience in F&B or retail industry is an advantage
- Experience in a supervisory or senior role is preferred
Competencies Required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Experience with accounting systems and ERP software
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic is an advantage
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Required Licenses/Certifications
- CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred
- Membership in a recognized accounting body is an advantage
