Senior Strategy and Business Planning Director
Job Purpose
The Senior Strategy and Business Planning Director will lead group-level strategic planning, financial analysis, and business performance management across multiple business segments. The role is responsible for driving long-term value creation through integrated strategy, financial planning, and performance optimisation, while supporting Board-level decision-making
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of group-wide corporate strategy across all business units and geographies
- Drive the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning cycle, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities
- Oversee financial performance analysis across multiple business segments, providing actionable insights to senior leadership
- Manage group-level financial reporting, consolidation, and performance dashboards
- Support Board and Executive Committee reporting, including strategic presentations and financial insights
- Lead evaluation of investments, M&A opportunities, and capital allocation decisions
- Drive business performance improvement initiatives, including cost optimisation and revenue enhancement
- Establish and maintain financial governance frameworks, policies, and internal controls across group entities
- Partner with business leaders to support commercial decision-making and strategic initiatives
- Build and lead a high-performing strategy and business planning team
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (mandatory)
- MBA or Master's degree (preferred)
- Professional certification required: CA / ACCA / CMA (fully qualified)
- CFA Charter is a strong advantage
Experience
- 12–18 years of total finance experience
- Minimum 3–5 years in a senior leadership role
- Experience in holding/group structures with multiple business segments
- Strong exposure to multi-entity / cross-border financial oversight
- Proven track record managing group-level P&L and leading teams (5+ members)
- Experience supporting Board and Executive-level reporting
- Exposure to M&A, project finance, debt structuring, or investment analysis
Industry & Functional Knowledge
- Strong expertise in corporate strategy and financial planning
- Experience in performance management frameworks and KPI tracking
- Understanding of market analysis, investment evaluation, and business modelling
Key Skills
- Advanced financial modelling and investment appraisal capability
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
- Excellent stakeholder management (Board, investors, banks, auditors)
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Ability to operate in complex, multi-business environments
- GCC experience is highly preferred
