Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Configuration Strategy & Planning: * Develop and maintain the Configuration Management (CM) Plan by synthesizing inputs such as the Project Scope, Function Implementation Plan, Project Handbook, and Release Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with overarching standards, regulations, and internal policies
  • Software Baseline Control & Release Management: * Maintain and update the Software Configuration Item (CI) List for all project deliveries.
  • Assemble and verify software delivery packages, ensuring all mandatory components (A2L, HEX, Test Reports, SW Release Notes, Traceability Reports, and Bootloaders) are present and accurate.
  • Execute delivery baselining following internal Process Instructions.
  • Repository & Version Control: * Manage the Stage Repository for secure data archival and strict version control of software collections.
  • Implement and manage branching and baselining strategies using industry-standard version control systems.
  • Auditing & Monitoring: * Conduct Configuration Monitor and Audit Activities to verify strict adherence to the project release plan and configuration strategy.
  • Generate and present Configuration Audit Reports to stakeholders.
  • Change & Issue Management: * Evaluate inputs such as Defects and Change Requests (CRs) to maintain accurate configuration identification.
  • Monitor missing delivery items via issue-tracking tools and coordinate directly with Software Managers and cross-functional teams to drive resolution.

  • Global & Regional Teams: System CM teams in Erlangen, Cergy, and Shanghai.
  • Project Leadership: Project Managers, Project Management Offices (PMOs), Technical Project Managers (TPMs), and L3 Managers.
  • R&D Métiers: Methods & Tools Officers (M&TOs) across Quality Management (QM), Mechanical Design (MD), Software (SW), Integration & Application (I&A), and Test Engineering & Validation (TE&V).
  • Cross-Functional: Ongoing coordination with all other engineering and project disciplines.

Required Tools & Methodologies

  • Software & Tools:
  • Polarion (Task and issue management)
  • GIT & Tortoise SVN (Version control)
  • Teamcenter / Target PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)
  • Stage Repository or equivalent archive tools.
  • Software & Tools:
  • Policies: CM Policy (POL047), Traceability Policy (POL032), CM Process Instruction (PI0065).
  • Methods: Branching, Baselining, Configuration Identification, Configuration Audits.
  • Templates: Utilization of standard CM Plan and CI List templates, alongside Delivery Baselining Process Instructions.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of experience in embedded software development (internships and academic projects count).
  • AI: Excellent Generative AI adoption, Agentic AI experience, and LLM fundamentals. Machine Learning is a plus
  • Required Skills & Profile:
  • Precision & Accuracy: High attention to detail in document versioning, baseline assembly, and change logging.
  • Process-Oriented: Deep understanding of software lifecycles, configuration identification, and release management.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills to effectively track issues and align a diverse, global set of stakeholders.
  • Programming: Strong proficiency in any programming language.
  • Microcontrollers (is a plus): Deep understanding of microcontroller architecture (memory map, registers, interrupts, timers).
  • Embedded Fundamentals (is a plus): Knowledge of RTOS concepts, Low-level Software, and Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL).
  • Automotive Standards (is a plus): Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture and methodology) and Functional Safety ISO26262 is a plus.
  • High problem solving skills, and debugging.
