Job Purpose
To design, engineer, and optimize complex structural solutions using appropriate software, while coordinating with project teams and support functions to ensure alignment and effective execution of plans.
Role Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Develop structural calculations and design models
- Perform load calculations and design checks
- Design foundations and framing systems
- Review structural detailing
- Coordinate design changes and revisions
- Optimize designs for cost and constructability
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with:
- Local building codes
- International standards
- Health and safety regulations
- Review structural integrity and risk factors
- Support safe construction methodologies
Quality Responsibilities
- Ensure construction quality meets specifications
- Conduct inspections and snagging
- Support testing and commissioning where relevant
- Maintain engineering records and documentation
Commercial Responsibilities
- Support quantity estimation for structural materials
- Assist with value engineering exercises
- Review variation impacts on structural scope
- Help evaluate contractor claims related to structural works
Construction Responsibilities
- Attend technical and coordination meetings
- Respond to RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Monitor structural works progress
- Verify reinforcement and structural installations
- Review contractor submissions and method statements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience in structural engineering, preferably in the Industrial or Oil & Gas sector
- Strong calculation experience
- Impeccable knowledge of loading bearing capacity
- Design and manage structures from concept to inception
- Critical Thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
