Responsibilities
- Handle the operation and maintenance of all marine engines, auxiliary machinery, and electrical systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and overhaul plans.
- Monitor engine and machinery performance, fuel consumption, and emissions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and classification society requirements.
- Check engine room spare parts inventory and plan for repair or replacements.
- Prepare and submit technical reports.
- Conduct investigations into equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Handle the implementation of new technologies and equipment.
- Track engine room budget and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements.
- Handle the technical operation and maintenance of vessels, report vessel status, discuss operational issues, and provide technical advice.
- Coordinate vessel repairs, obtain technical approvals, and procure equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nautical Science or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Possess a Chief Engineer's license.
- A minimum of 6 - 8 years of experience in a similar role
