Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration & Operations
- Install, configure, and maintain Teradata Vantage (17.x) environments across IntelliFlex and virtualized platforms.
- Manage system components including Viewpoint, QueryGrid, Data Mover, BCM, and Data Stream Utility.
- Administer Teradata servers running on IntelliFlex appliances and VMware (non-prod environments).
Monitoring & Performance Management
- Monitor system health, query performance, and resource utilization using Teradata Viewpoint.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to queries, workloads, and system resources.
- Implement workload management (TASM) and query optimization strategies.
Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
- Configure and manage backup and recovery using Teradata Data Stream Utility.
- Support disaster recovery setup and failover processes using Business Continuity Manager (BCM).
- Ensure data availability and minimal downtime during failures or maintenance activities.
Data Movement & Integration
- Manage and support data replication, migration, and refresh using Data Mover.
- Enable cross-platform data access using QueryGrid for seamless analytics.
- Support integration with external systems via APIs, CLIv2, and S3 interfaces.
Security & Access Management
- Implement and manage database security, user roles, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and audit requirements.
Patch Management & Upgrades
- Perform platform upgrades, patches, and system maintenance aligned with n-1 version standards.
- Ensure compatibility and stability of all Teradata ecosystem components.
Platform Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide L2/L3 support for production and non-production environments.
- Troubleshoot system, database, and infrastructure-related issues.
- Work closely with application, ETL, and analytics teams for issue resolution.
Analytics & Advanced Capabilities Support
- Support ClearScape Analytics and AI Nodes for advanced analytics and ML workloads.
- Enable integration with tools like Python, R, and ModelOps frameworks.
System Management & Utilities
- Manage CMIC and Service Workstation (SWS) for system diagnostics, monitoring, and service operations.
- Maintain logs, system inventory, and diagnostic data for support and auditing.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in Teradata Database Administration (Vantage 16/17.x)
- 5–10 years of relevant Teradata platform support experience
- Hands-on experience with:
- Teradata Viewpoint, QueryGrid, Data Mover, BCM
- IntelliFlex platform and VMware environments
- Backup & recovery tools (Data Stream Utility)
- Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, and workload management
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting
- Experience with REST APIs, CLIv2, and data integration tools
