To manage, monitor and oversee all mechanical engineering-related matters for the Company's development projects during the design, construction, and testing & commissioning phases. Provide consultation and support for mechanical engineering-related matters once the project is transitioned as an operating property.
Core Responsibilities:
Manages, supervises, and controls all mechanical engineering-related matters in the projects under development by the Company throughout their lifecycle, including, but not limited to the following:
- Understand the Company's business case, policies, and procedures.
- Gathers and provides technical and financial information required by the Company for competitions or opportunities it intends to participate .
- Assists in reviewing, analysing, and recommend companies suitable to design and/or execute, and supervise electric works.
- Prepares the mechanical engineering requirements and documentations necessary for issuing TORs, RFQs and/or RFPs to entities selected by the company.
- Studies and review the proposals submitted by the contractors / consultants invited by the company for the development of its projects and provide technical and financial feedback.
- Prepares all mechanical engineering-related input required for the project management plan, charter, budget, and/or master schedule.
- Conducts the necessary reviews and provided technical comments on the design documents during all design stages (concept, schematic, developed and detailed design).
- Follows up the design consultant to ensure obtaining all necessary approvals are obtained from MEW and other relevant local authorities for the mechanical engineering loads and design standards for all project systems.
- Reviews IFC documents and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and the requirements of relevant local authorities.
- Ensures proper coordination between mechanical engineering works and all other disciplines to avoid scope conflicts.
- Administers the supervision process for mechanical engineering works in progress on site and ensure its compliance with the contract documents.
- Monitors the progress of mechanical engineering works on site and ensure that execution is in line with the approved schedule.
- Attends technical coordination and progress meetings with stakeholders and provide technical
- support and feedback on project works.
- Prepares all necessary periodic reports related to mechanical engineering works on ongoing projects.
- Reviews and provide technical evaluation of proposed MEP sub-contractors for the Project.
- Reviews and provide technical feedback on proposed mechanical engineering materials, equipment, and/or mock-ups submitted by the contractor.
- Reviews the interim payments for the contractors and provide technical and financial comments regarding the percent completion of mechanical engineering works and entitlement of the contractor to the claimed amounts.
- Studies the contractors claims and provide technical and financial comments on the percentage completion of mechanical engineering works and contractor's entitlement to the claimed amounts. • Assists in preparation of change orders for mechanical engineering works.
- Monitors and follow up with the consultant the testing and commissioning procedures and ensure compliance with the contractual requirements.
- Conducts the necessary coordination with the supervision consultant for managing the close out procedures and ensure fulfilment of all contractual requirements in relation to the mechanical engineering works.
- Reviews mechanical engineering related section in the handover status reports at the completion of the projects works for release of final payment or necessary deductions as applicable. Contract Administration
- Prepares prequalification documents, issue, evaluate and make a recommendation to the management on the construction contractors.
- Prepares the project Terms of Reference/Tenders, including contract documents, specifications, and drawings, where applicable, for the Client/Management to invite bids from the pre-qualified construction contractors.
- Responds to queries, resolves issues, and conducts the evaluation of submittals where applicable.
- Analyzes submitted tenders in terms of their technical, financial, and contractual packages and makes recommendations to the management.
- Provides technical consultation upon request for operational facilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Masters degree in mechanical engineering is an added advantage.
- Strong English language skills (written and spoken). Arabic is preferred
- 10 – 20 years of relevant experience.
