Job purpose:

To lead the GIG Gulf SME and Retail products and portfolios for Health through active management and innovation to develop these product lines across the region.

Manage a team of Underwriters and Product Managers servicing the above portfolios, setting guidelines, governance and processes to improve performance, efficiency time to market as well as embed a customer centric approach through product innovation.

Responsible for product development, identifying, analyzing client needs, impact analysis, regulatory registration, product design inclusive of SOP, collaterals, system development and sales training.

Key Responsibilities:

Business unit management:

Lead the SME and Retail business unit and the regional corporate product offering for Health insurance lines of business.
Management of the existing products approved and offered by the company on healthcare line of business

Portfolio management and technical sustainability:

Partner with Pricing, Actuarial and Operations teams as needed to set the strategy to keep a sustainable offering that will maximize profitable growth for the portfolio of products.
Define pricing policy in partnership with Pricing team, managing terms and conditions and legal forms for new and existing product per country.

Governance:

Keep up to date with changes in the law or the requirements of any regulatory body that may affect the conduct of the business; recommend changes as necessary.
Examine any non-compliance of benefit adjudication and ensure compliance overall.
Devise and document appropriate underwriting practices, prepare policy wordings, and other documentation outlining practices.

Maximizing Sales potential:

Monitor the SME and Retail Health performance versus forecasts, analyze any discrepancies and identify trends / opportunities to maximize business potential in partnership with the Business development heads of these units.
Support development and implementation of new IT tools and platform integration, to enable process optimization and strong growth in coordination with internal and external customers (brokers, agents, etc....).

Maximizing Marketing opportunities:

Analyze SME & Retail market and define clear opportunities offered by this segment in all GCC countries. Including regular audit of competitors product offering.
Pilot new marketing strategies supported by new product offering solutions to gain market share.
Support digitalization initiatives related to this portfolio of products.

Maximizing Product Knowledge & Development:

Create on-going new training modules & tools reflecting the needs of the market.
Conduct regional trainings to maximize acquisition of knowledge & understanding of GIG Gulf Health for internal and external customers (brokers, agents, etc....).
In depth understanding of definitions, exclusions, benefit wordings applicable within each market and understanding of the minimum requirements stipulated by the health authorities in each of the 4 countries (UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar)

Role Requirements:

Essential:

Degree/ professional certification, preferably with a technical background (Math, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance)
5-10 years in healthcare insurance
Strong knowledge of Health insurance products
Underwriting and/or Product experience
Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)

Desirable:

5 years Managerial experience/business unit expertise
Technical and analytical skills, with a high level of numeracy
UAE and ROG market experience
Knowledge of pricing tools and/or reporting software (i.e. Power BI)
