About The Role

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is seeking a motivated, organized, and highly interpersonal Officer – Alumni Engagement and Employability to join its Alumni and Career Services Department.

The role supports the University's efforts to strengthen alumni engagement, enhance student employability and employment outcomes, and deliver impactful career services programs. The position will build meaningful relationships with alumni, employers, and industry partners while supporting students and graduates in developing career readiness skills, accessing internship and employment opportunities, and building sustainable professional networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement alumni engagement initiatives, including events, networking opportunities, career talks, and social activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date alumni records and databases and ensure effective communication with alumni.
  • Facilitate alumni involvement in university activities, including guest lectures, industry panels, student development activities, networking events, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Support the delivery of career development programs, workshops, and activities that enhance students career readiness and employability skills.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and graduates in CV development, interview preparation, job-search strategies, professional networking, and career planning.
  • Coordinate career-related initiatives that connect students and graduates with employers, industry professionals, and employment opportunities.
  • Develop initiatives that support alumni access to employment, career advancement, professional development, and lifelong learning opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with alumni employers, industry partners, professional associations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Identify and engage potential employers and industry partners to expand internship, placement, graduate employment, and professional networking opportunities.
  • Support partnerships and collaborative initiatives that enhance student employability, graduate recruitment, and industry engagement.
  • Organize and manage career fairs, recruitment days, employer networking events, alumni panels, and professional development workshops.
  • Develop promotional and communication materials to increase awareness and participation in alumni, career, employment, and employer engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain an up-to-date employer and industry partner database and ensure effective follow-up and relationship management.
  • Maintain and update alumni employment information and contribute to the collection, verification, and reporting of graduate employment and career progression data.
  • Prepare regular reports on participation, engagement, employment, and career outcomes.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of departmental policies, procedures, KPIs, annual operational plans, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Academic And Professional Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mass Communication, Education, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • Desirable: A Master's degree in Business Administration, Higher Education, Communication, Human Resources, or a related field is desirable.

Essential

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years post bachelor's degree professional work experience in an organization.
  • Work experience in an organizational setting that is customer facing.
  • A proven understanding of Higher Education.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with groups of students and alumni and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with employers.

Skills And Knowledge

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency.
  • Record of accomplishment of fostering collaboration and lasting partnerships.
  • Superior organization skills and ability to complete projects.
  • Projects in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of international higher education systems preferred American model.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy, and working with individuals from different cultures.

Language Proficiency Required

Fluent in English and Arabic.
