Job purpose
The Graphic Designer will work on a variety of activities such as window designs, advertising, pop-ups, exhibitions, in-store displays, corporate communications, and identity. He/she will work to a brief agreed with the Head of Creative & Marketing to develop creative ideas and concepts.
The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software as well as a professional approach to time, costs, and deadlines all in keeping with the Harvey Nichols Doha objectives. You'll need to be well organized as you will juggle multiple projects, have an eye for fine detail, and have an understanding of current brands and fashion.
Duties and responsibilities
- Developing design briefs that suit the required purpose for in-store visuals or advertising/marketing.
- Create 3D windows and pop-up renderings for seasonal launch implementations.
- Design production ready-to-print files for manufacturing purposes
- Understand and design 3D production and types of printable materials for installations.
- Working with a range of software media, including computer-aided design (CAD) and keeping up to date with emerging technologies
- Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive design.
- Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time.
Qualifications
- Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print
- Have a passion and enthusiasm for design and fashion with a creative flair.
- Be flexible and have an open approach when working in a team.
- Excellent communication skills to interpret and negotiate briefs with the Creative & VM Manager
- Strong presentation skills and the confidence to explain new ideas.
- Time management skills and the ability to cope with multiple projects at a time.
- Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to your designs.
Apart from technical and drawing skills, you will need to:
- Understand and work fluently with programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, AutoCAD, 3D Sketch, and Microsoft Office.
- You will need a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar graphic arts or design role.
- A degree in graphic design, fine art, communication design, illustration, or visual arts is required for this job. Any additional courses or experience will aid your chances of success.
- Fluent in Arabic (written and spoken) is a necessity.
