AC Technician (Air Conditioning Technician)

Job Summary

An AC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting air conditioning and HVAC systems in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings. The technician ensures systems operate efficiently, safely, and according to manufacturer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting components.
  • Install and repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and ductwork.
  • Test HVAC systems to ensure proper operation and performance.
  • Replace defective parts such as motors, belts, relays, and switches.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Maintain service records and prepare maintenance reports.
  • Provide customers with recommendations on system maintenance and energy efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration cycles
  • Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in HVAC / Air Conditioning / Refrigeration
  • Minimum 25 years of experience as an AC technician (varies by company)
  • Knowledge of refrigerants and HVAC safety procedures
  • Valid driving license (sometimes required)
