Accountant Saudi Arabia

Role Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for all accounting matters of Beacon's business in Saudi Arabia.

This includes day-to-day transactional accounting, month-end close, management reporting and overseeing compliance with Saudi local standards, tax and regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong accounting and technical skills developed in either a professional accounting or commercial environment.

Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is desirable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Transactional accounting

  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of accounting records.
  • Initiate and record financial transactions in Xero accounting software. This includes all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and general ledger.
  • Inter-company accounting
  • Manage reimbursement of employee expenses
  • Prepare monthly payroll, maintain timely GOSI submission and payment, manage employment record including leave record and contracts

Treasury and cash management

  • Work with Finance Director to ensure business is adequately funded.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide local language support for the credit control team, as and when required, including arranging for the collection of local cheques.
  • Develop effective working relationships with local banking partners

Spend management

  • Work with commercial teams to ensure operational spends are tracked to agreed budgets and forecasts.
  • Cultivate effective supplier relationship management processes.

Month-end close

  • Deliver month end close for the Saudi legal entity
  • Meet Group reporting deadlines
  • Calculate and process accruals and prepayments
  • Account for deferred revenue and expenditure of future events
  • Fixed asset accounting
  • Inter-company invoicing and reconciliations
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Checking, validation and quality assurance

Process Improvement

  • Support initiatives to improve business and accounting processes, procedures and systems.
  • Drive automation and technology adoption for efficiency, productivity and effectiveness

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Work with the Finance Director to establish, improve and monitor internal controls.
  • Ensure all Saudi tax compliance requirements are met including the accurate and timely filing of statutory financial statements, indirect and direct tax returns.
  • Compliance with VAT Legislation and Electronic Invoicing Regulations.
  • Support auditors to deliver an efficient and clean audit process.
  • Work with Senior Leadership Team to identify, quantify and report key risks and to develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with Senior Leadership Team to critically evaluate scope, risks and potential returns of new projects and initiatives including the monitoring of project budgets.

General

  • Handle routine requests from customers, suppliers, employees and Saudi Government authorities
  • Develop competency in understand Beacon's policies and procedures and in understanding Xero and other finance and reporting systems.
  • Provide Arabic language support to the Senior Leadership Team, including attendance at meetings with local partners and authorities, as and when required.
  • Transition accounting responsibility for UK entity in 3-6 months time

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of Saudi financial reporting, tax and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Proficient finance-based analytical skills
  • A resourceful team player with strong leadership, influencing, problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Communicates in a clear, succinct and organized and convincing manner
  • Fluent in written and spoken English essential.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a commercially driven environment.
  • Independent, resourceful and able to work collaboratively with business stakeholders and finance colleagues
  • Proficient in technology tools
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel at an intermediate level)
  • Extensive experience of working with ERP and/or other accounting software.
