About the job

As an Accountant at Salt & Mud, you will play a key role in managing the company's financial operations and supporting sustainable business growth. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient day-to-day accounting processes.

Working closely with management and operations teams, you will contribute to financial transparency, planning, and informed decision-making while upholding the brand's values of integrity, quality, and responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries using Zoho (Books / Finance).
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer balances.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE accounting standards, VAT regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Handle VAT filings, documentation, and coordination with auditors or external consultants.
  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, and budgets, highlighting variances and insights to management.
  • Support invoicing, payment follow-ups, and expense control through Zoho systems.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and records in line with company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support smooth financial and operational processes.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial records and reports.
  • Correct and compliant VAT submissions.
  • Effective cash-flow management and cost control.
  • Responsiveness in handling financial queries and issues.
  • Quality and clarity of financial reporting to management.
  • Consistent and structured use of Zoho for accounting workflows.
  • Proactive identification of risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 35 years of proven accounting experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or lifestyle brands.
  • Hands-on experience with Zoho Books / Zoho Finance is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and UAE VAT regulations.
  • High attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience working in the UAE is required.
