Responsibilities
We are looking for a Finance & Operations Specialist who will own day-to-day accounting, retail costing, and import documentation, while working closely with logistics partners, customs agents, last-mile delivery platforms and retail chains.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who understands the financial realities of retail, FMCG, and e-commerce operations, and who can bridge finance, supply chain, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Handle daily accounting operations including:
- Sales reconciliation (web, app, Instashop, Talabat, Careem, retail chains)
- Purchase invoices and supplier payments
- Expense tracking and accruals
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including:
- P&L
- Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Gross margin analysis
- Manage retail costing, including:
- Product landed cost calculation (product, freight, customs, duties, clearance)
- Pricing support and margin validation
- Support VAT compliance, filings, and coordination with external accountants/auditors
Operations & Import Documentation
- Prepare and manage import documentation, including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- HS codes
- Coordinate with:
- Logistics partners
- Freight forwarders
- Customs clearance agents
- Track shipment costs and ensure accurate posting into financial systems
- Support inventory costing and stock reconciliation
Marketplace, Last-Mile & Retail Chain Operations Support
- Reconcile marketplace and retail operations statements
- Track commissions, promotions, penalties, and deductions
- Support pricing updates and margin checks for marketplace SKUs
- Work closely with operations and marketplace managers to resolve discrepancies
Process & Controls
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Improve finance and ops processes for scalability
- Support budgeting and cash-flow forecasting
- Ensure strong internal controls across finance and operations
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 35 years of experience in:
- Retail, FMCG, grocery accounting/operations
- Strong experience with:
- Retail costing and landed cost calculations
- Import documentation and logistics coordination
- Hands-on experience working with last-mile delivery platforms or retails chains (Instashop, Talabat, Careem, Deliveroo, etc.) from a supplier/merchant side
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
