Overview of the Role:

Murdoch University Dubai is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Adjunct Lecturer to deliver MAS162 -Discrete Mathematics and Logic. The Adjunct Lecturer for Discrete Mathematics and Logic will play a key role in delivering foundational mathematical knowledge to undergraduate students.

This unit plays a critical role in developing students foundational understanding of discrete mathematics and logic, which are essential for computer science and related disciplines. It focuses on building analytical and problem-solving skills through topics such as logic, recursion, matrices, probability, and computational methods.

We are seeking high-calibre professionals with a strong blend of academic expertise and practical experience in mathematics, statistics, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching mathematics at a tertiary level and demonstrate proficiency in tools such as MATLAB or other programming languages, with the ability to connect theoretical concepts to practical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver lectures and tutorials in Discrete Mathematics and Logic to undergraduate students
  • Prepare and mark assessments in line with university standards
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students
  • Apply real-world and computational examples to enhance student understanding
  • Work closely with the Unit Coordinator and adhere to academic delivery guidelines
  • Utilise relevant teaching tools and platforms as required

Required Qualifications

  • AQF Level 9 Master's degree or higher in Mathematics.
  • Required Teaching Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics.
  • Candidates with a Computer Science background may be considered if the degree includes a significant mathematics component.

Knowledge, Attributes & Skills Required

  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience and knowledge in:
  • Strong foundation in discrete mathematics, logic, and linear algebra
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Octave and/or other programming languages
  • Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in a clear and engaging manner
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to connect theoretical mathematics to computing and real-world applications
  • Effective communication and student engagement skills
