Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The IT & Network Support Administrator is responsible for providing first- and second-level technical support to university staff, faculty, and students. The role ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of IT systems, network connectivity, classroom technology, and end-user devices by responding to service requests, troubleshooting issues, and supporting academic and administrative technology needs.

The position focuses on user support, basic network and system administration, classroom and lab support, and coordination with vendors and senior IT staff for escalated issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

IT Help Desk and User Support

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to staff, faculty, and students for:
  • Desktop and laptop computers
  • Email systems
  • Printers, scanners, and peripherals
  • University applications and systems
  • Respond to help desk requests, log incidents, track resolutions, and ensure timely closure of tickets.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues and escalate complex problems when required.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes including system access setup and revocation.

Network and Systems Support

  • Provide basic support for the university's network infrastructure including:
  • LAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity
  • Basic troubleshooting of switches, access points, and network devices
  • Assist in managing user accounts in Active Directory and email systems.
  • Perform basic system monitoring and report issues to senior IT staff.
  • Assist with antivirus updates and endpoint security compliance.

Classroom, Lab and Auditorium Support

  • Maintain and support IT equipment in classrooms, laboratories, and auditoriums including:
  • Computers, projectors, smart boards, sound systems, and presentation equipment
  • Provide on-site support during lectures, exams, events, and conferences as required.
  • Ensure IT labs are operational, properly configured, and ready for academic use.

Hardware and Asset Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and related peripherals.
  • Assist in maintaining IT asset inventory and equipment records.
  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, replacements, and warranty claims when required.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain basic IT documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Follow university IT policies, information security guidelines, and acceptable use standards.
  • Support audits and compliance requirements related to IT systems and user access.

Coordination and Continuous Support

  • Coordinate with senior IT staff and external vendors for escalated technical issues.
  • Participate in system maintenance activities during off-peak hours when required.
  • Stay updated with basic IT support tools, technologies, and best practices relevant to higher education.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or network support role.
  • Proficiency in Arabic Language is highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory and user account management, Networking fundamentals (LAN, Wi-Fi, IP addressing), etc.
  • Experience in an academic or educational environment is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
