Overall purpose of the job
The AI Lead will establish and run the Group AI Innovation Lab, turning real-world maritime and marine services challenges into practical AI solutions, while leading AI Governance at Group level and ensuring alignment at the highest level of the organisation. This role is accountable for progressing the AI roadmap, delivering high impact use cases, and mobilising people across the Group to safely and effectively adopt AI in their daily work.
Key responsibilities
Strategy & Roadmap:
- Define and deliver the AI strategy and roadmap aligned with the Group's business, safety, and customer priorities, working closely with Group Strategy & CTO
- Maintain a portfolio of AI initiatives with clear value cases and priority ranking
- Build and link AI team of resources across the Group to deliver highest impact AI functionality
Use Case Delivery and Governance:
- Lead cross-functional squads to discover, prototype, and scale AI solutions (e.g., internal assistants, document intelligence, predictive insights)
- Set success metrics, track value delivery, and ensure solutions move from pilot to business-as-usual
- Own the AI Governance with direct line to Group Chief Executive Officer
Team Building & Adoption
- Recruit and lead the sandbox team (data scientists, ML engineers, BA);
- Drive AI adoption across BUs;
- Act as the primary translator between business stakeholders and technical delivery.
Essential
- Experience leading transformational AI projects at scale, i.e hands-on delivery of LLM-based or ML-driven solutions.
- Proven experience delivering AI products end-to-end, from ideation to production deployment
- Strong product ownership mindset with ability to define, prioritise and execute roadmaps
- Demonstrated experience with modern AI technologies (e.g. Large Languages Models, Agentic AI, Machine learning applications in production)
- Experience managing complex projects at a Group level
- Flexibility and ability to work with various relevant departments across the company
- Have good oversight and the ability to push things forward
- Ability to work at different levels of detail (from strategic to operational) and able to concisely summarise complex issues for executive management
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
- Experienced user of MS Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good English in speaking, reading and writing.
