APAC Index Product Development - Bloomberg Indices, Singapore

What's the role

You will join a highly experienced APAC Index Product Development team that sits within our Enterprise Data Product division. You will help build and implement Bloomberg's APAC index business strategy across a broad range of asset classes. Your responsibilities will include back-testing, developing, and commercializing index solutions, refining product positioning, and contributing to the overall commercial success of the business. You will work closely with Engineering, Sales, Research, and Production teams, participate in client engagements, and support the development of new Bloomberg Indices designed to transform the index industry.

You are someone with a strong understanding of the institutional asset management industry, including evolving index trends, regulatory developments, and client needs. You will translate market trends and client requirements into practical and investable index frameworks.

Success in this role will require strong technical and communication skills, including the ability to analyze large data sets, run index back-tests, design data quality controls, and translate analytical findings into practical index frameworks. The individual will collaborate across regional and global teams while building trusted relationships with clients and partners. We'll trust you to:

• Back-test, design, and develop innovative indices based on market trends and client requirements
• Be an originator of investment strategies that could be implemented as investable indices
• Contribute meaningfully to the analysis, evaluation, and strategic direction of Bloomberg's index product offering
• Create and pitch product ideas aligned with market trends and evolving client needs across APAC, as well as work with clients to implement custom index solutions, with the goal of developing a sustainable inbound pipeline from clients for innovative solutions
• Identify key strategic partnership opportunities to enable broader distribution of Bloomberg products, or co-development of products to meet the needs of our clients
• Design and maintain data quality controls and analytical frameworks to support accurate index research, back-testing, and production readiness

You'll need to have:

• 5+ years of hands-on product experience in the index industry or in a buy-side or sell-side firm demonstrating knowledge of indices
• Experience with Python to work with large data sets, conduct data analysis, and back-test index ideas
• Experience in financial markets, securities, and derivatives
• Experience designing data quality checks, validation processes, and analytical frameworks for index research, back-testing, or production workflows
• Bachelor's degree in an analytical or technical field, such as Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or equivalent qualifications
• Strong data fluency, technical proficiency, and the ability to work with large data sets accurately
• Strong business development skills, with clear views on product positioning and product adoption strategy
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building enthusiastic support for new product ideas
• Broad understanding of regulations on financial indices and day-to-day governance determinations on index events
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization

We'd love to see:

• Proficiency in one of the following Asian languages to provide hands-on support to regional clients: Japanese, Korean, Chinese
• Experience working with Bloomberg data
• Experience in a quantitative finance environment
• Experience working with ETFs, mutual funds, structured products, or other index-linked products or institutions using indices
