Job Description

Job Summary

The Application Engineering Lead is responsible for supervising the Application Engineering team in Cairo and ensuring efficient execution of the quotation and order management process. The role focuses on workload distribution, KPI management, customer support, technical and commercial coordination, and handling complex tenders within the rotating equipment industry.

The position also plays a key role in supporting sales growth by providing technical expertise, optimizing bid strategies, mentoring engineers, and maintaining strong customer relationships across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and supervise the Application Engineering team.
  • Distribute workload and monitor performance through KPIs.
  • Mentor, train, and develop Application Engineers.
  • Build a strong culture focused on quality and customer service.
  • Coordinate priorities with Sales Engineers (SEs) and Area Sales Managers (ASMs).

Tendering & Quotation Management

  • Prepare and review quotations ranging from low to highly complex projects.
  • Personally manage strategic and technically complex tenders.
  • Implement selective bidding strategies with ASMs and Commercial Sales Managers (CSMs).
  • Ensure quotations are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Optimize bid strategies using market and competitor knowledge.

Customer & Sales Support

  • Support customers, representatives, and sales teams throughout the quote-to-order cycle.
  • Participate in technical and commercial discussions with customers.
  • Assist in resolving customer issues and order-related challenges.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, especially with EPCs and major end users.

Technical & Process Improvement

  • Support technical training and product development initiatives.
  • Review specifications and technical questionnaires.
  • Ensure clean and accurate order processing.
  • Continuously improve internal processes and workflows.
  • Coordinate with sub-vendors and internal stakeholders.

Business Support

  • Support exhibitions, trade fairs, and customer visits when required.
  • Implement company sales policies and programs.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (B.Sc. Engineering).

Experience Requirements

Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the rotating equipment industry.
  • Strong expertise in centrifugal pump application engineering, including:
  • Design principles
  • Hydraulics
  • Materials
  • Sealing systems
  • Drivers and auxiliaries
