College Profile: The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses ten departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature & Linguistics and Arabic Languages, History, Fine Arts, Geography, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication, Psychology, Policy, Planning & Development, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Physics and Materials Sciences. The College also houses Master Programs, which are in Environmental Science, Gulf Studies, Material Science and Arabic Language. In Fall 2013, CAS launched a PhD program in Biological and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers. The well-established research centers namely the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) and the Gulf Studies Center complement the portfolio. It is worth mentioning that as members of Qatar University, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas. |

Duties & Responsibilities .Teach courses in the area of expertise (36 credit hours per academic year). .Contribute to various committees at the Program, College, and University levels. .Contribute to the research profile of the College through research publications and creative endeavors. .Serve as student advisor. .Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: .The department seeks a candidate whose teaching style supports a diverse student body. The successful candidate is expected to hold a doctorate in Arabic Language and to have university-level teaching experience in the field Arabic Language. .In addition to teaching, the candidate is expected to contribute in committees and conduct research/produce professionally creative quality work. Also, professional experience in any of the fields of Arabic Language is a plus. |
