Job Purpose
The Architect (6-Month Contract) will support the Design Department in delivering architectural solutions for new store developments, renovations, and retrofit projects across multiple markets. The role focuses on translating brand and business requirements into functional, compliant, and visually aligned store environments in accordance with Americana standards. Working across the full design lifecycle, the Architect will contribute to concept development, space planning, design documentation, and stakeholder coordination. The role involves collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects meet operational, regulatory, budget, and timeline requirements while enhancing the overall guest and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop architectural design solutions for new store developments, renovations, remodels, and retrofit projects across multiple F&B and retail brands.
- Translate business requirements and brand standards into functional store layouts, demarcation plans, and design documentation.
- Conduct site visits and prepare measured survey drawings to support design development and project scoping.
- Produce accurate architectural drawings and ensure designs comply with brand guidelines, local regulations, safety standards, accessibility requirements, and MEP coordination.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including design, construction, operations, maintenance, finance, and franchise teams to ensure project alignment with business objectives.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders including franchisors, consultants, vendors, and suppliers to ensure design consistency and successful project delivery.
- Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously and ensure deliverables are completed according to agreed budgets, timelines, and SLAs.
- Utilize architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or 3D Studio Max to produce drawings and design outputs.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and maintain milestone tracking within project management systems.
- Propose value engineering solutions to optimize costs while maintaining design quality and brand standards.
- Support construction teams by addressing design adjustments, site queries, and reviewing material or finish alternatives when required.
- Identify opportunities to enhance guest and customer experience through improved spatial planning and design functionality.
- Stay updated on industry trends, building regulations, and emerging design technologies.
- Perform other design-related tasks or project support activities as required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture is required. A Master's Degree in Architecture is an advantage.
- 35 years of experience as an Architect or Architectural Designer.
- Prior experience in retail, hospitality, F&B, or commercial store design environments.
- Experience with store layouts, restaurant concepts, customer flow planning, and space optimization.
- Strong understanding of building regulations, safety standards, accessibility requirements, and construction practices.
- Experience working on multiple projects with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Knowledge of materials, finishes, and construction methods relevant to retail or hospitality projects.
