Currently working with a leading international consultancy based in Abu Dhabi, who are interested in speaking to Architects of Record
The Architect of Record (AOR) will be responsible for overseeing the design compliance, statutory submissions, and coordination with Abu Dhabi authorities for major architectural developments. The role requires deep knowledge of local regulations, codes, and approval processes, as well as the ability to represent the company in front of local authorities and clients. The AOR will work closely with internal design teams, consultants, and government entities to ensure projects meet all legal and technical requirements in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the official Architect of Record for assigned projects in Abu Dhabi.
- Lead and coordinate all statutory submissions, design approvals, and authority liaison processes (e.g., ADM, DMT, Civil Defense, Estidama, etc.).
- Ensure full compliance of design documentation with UAE building codes, localauthority standards, and client requirements.
- Review and validate design deliverables from internal and external teams for regulatory accuracy and constructability.
- Represent the company in meetings with local authorities, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Provide expert guidance to design teams on local regulations, standards, and buildingpermit procedures.
- Supervise the preparation of technical documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Support project managers in ensuring timely approval processes and project delivery milestones.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Abu Dhabi's urban planning policies, sustainability standards (Estidama), and building regulations.
- Mentor and guide junior architects and technical staff regarding local authority processes and compliance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural design and project delivery.
- At least 5 years of experience in Abu Dhabi, serving as an Architect of Record or equivalent role with authority liaison responsibilities.
- Proven experience working on large-scale developments (residential, commercial, mixed-use, or hospitality) within the UAE.
- Registered or Licensed Architect in the UAE (preferred) or eligible for local registration.
- In-depth understanding of Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM), Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Civil Defense, and Estidama procedures.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (both written and spoken) is essential.
- Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
- Experience working within international consultancy environments will be an advantage.
