Asset Accountant
Location: Dubai
Industry: Food Manufacturing / FMCG
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure all asset records are accurate and up to date.
- Record asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, retirements, and write-offs.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Reconcile fixed asset accounts with the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Capitalize projects and ensure proper classification of capital expenditures (CAPEX).
- Review invoices and supporting documentation to determine appropriate capitalization.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of fixed assets and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare fixed asset schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and internal control procedures.
- Monitor construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts and facilitate timely capitalization.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and CAPEX reporting.
- Collaborate with procurement, operations, engineering, and finance teams regarding asset management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- 2–3 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or general accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and (1C experience is preferrable).
- Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting, depreciation methods, and CAPEX accounting.
- Good understanding of IFRS or GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, real estate, energy, logistics, or large corporate environments.
- Experience managing high-value asset portfolios and large-scale capital projects.
- Familiarity with asset management modules in ERP systems.
