Assistant / Associate/ Professor - Business & Finance

The Role

We are seeking academics to contribute to teaching, research, and academic quality at the University of Manchester – Dubai. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, research-informed teaching, maintain an active research profile, and contribute to the ongoing development of programmes, students, and the wider academic community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

•    Deliver high-quality teaching aligned with University of Manchester academic standards

•    Design, develop, and continuously enhance curriculum, assessment, and learning materials

•    Provide timely, constructive, and academically rigorous feedback to students

•    Support student success through advising, supervision, and mentoring

•    Contribute to innovation in teaching, including digital and applied learning approaches

Research and Scholarly Activity

•    Maintain an active and sustainable research profile aligned with institutional priorities

•    Produce high-quality, peer-reviewed research outputs in recognised journals

•    Integrate research into teaching to enhance student learning

•    Engage in collaborative research with internal and external partners

•    Supervise postgraduate research and student projects, as appropriate to level

Knowledge Transfer and Engagement

•    Engage with industry, government, and professional bodies to support applied research

•    Contribute to partnerships that enhance student employability and real-world learning

•    Participate in external engagement activities such as consultancy, executive education, or public engagement

Academic Governance and Service

•    Contribute to academic governance, committees, and quality assurance processes

•    Support accreditation and continuous improvement of programmes

•    Collaborate with academic and professional services colleagues

Person Specification

Essential

•    A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant discipline (Business and Finance)

•    A strong demonstrated research track record appropriate to the level of appointment

•    Experience in postgraduate teaching in the United Arab Emirates

•    Strong communication and academic delivery skills

•    Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline, with a commitment to developing further skills in teaching methods and techniques

Desirable

•    Experience with international accreditation frameworks and outcome-based education

•    Experience in transnational education

•    Experience of industry engagement or applied research

Additional Requirements

•    Candidates must be eligible to reside in the United Arab Emirates

•    Academic qualifications must be attested and recognised by the relevant UAE authorities
