Role Description This Assistant Cook position is a contract, on-site role based in Jeddah. The Assistant Cook will support the main cook and kitchen team in preparing, cooking, and presenting food in accordance with established recipes and standards. Daily tasks include basic food preparation, washing and cutting ingredients, maintaining cleanliness of workstations, and assisting with cooking during meal service. The role also involves following food safety and hygiene guidelines, organizing storage areas, and ensuring proper handling of kitchen tools and equipment. The Assistant Cook will collaborate with colleagues, follow instructions from senior kitchen staff, and help maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

Qualifications

• Foundational cooking skills, including basic food preparation, knowledge of common ingredients, and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and proper storage techniques in a professional kitchen environment.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, with attention to portion control and presentation standards.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with chefs and other kitchen staff.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced, high-temperature environment.
• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting is preferred but not always required.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed by the operation.
• Basic English communication skills; additional language skills relevant to Jeddah's local context are an advantage.
