Job Description

Purpose and Scope of Position (Job Summary):

The Assistant Golf Service Manager at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of all sub-departments within the Golf Operations team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the smooth delivery of corporate and club golf tournaments to highly satisfactory standards, while maintaining high levels of service excellence and member satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Club Atmosphere & Image:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a club atmosphere that enhances the club's image and distinguishes it from competitors.
  1. Golf Tournament Management:
  • Focus on the scheduling, planning, and delivery of corporate and club golf tournaments in collaboration with the Golf Experience Manager, Tournament Coordinator, and Golf Operations Administrator.
  • Oversee prize presentations, press releases, results posting, scoring, event setup, Golf Genius, and other aspects as required by business demands.
  1. Intern Management:
  • Supervise and manage interns, including onboarding, objective setting, progress updates, team integration, and mentorship.
  1. Member Engagement:
  • Develop an understanding of membership classifications, fees, programs, policies, and guidelines to answer member and prospective member inquiries.
  • Assist new members in becoming familiar with the club, tournament schedules, and event registration.
  1. Duty Manager Responsibilities:
  • Participate in Duty Manager shifts and oversee daily golf operations in the absence of the Director of Golf Operations.
  1. Consumables Management:
  • Oversee the management of Golf Operations consumables, ensuring sufficient stock levels and accurate reporting tools for monitoring stock and usage.
  1. Handicap Committee:
  • Act as a member of the Emirates Golf Club Handicap Committee.
  1. Golf Operations Meetings:
  • Ensure weekly Golf Operations meetings are held with supervisors, administrators, and managers for transparency and communication.
  • Share meeting minutes with all participating colleagues.
  1. Operational Tasks:
  • Complete tasks and requests as required by the Director of Golf Operations.
  • Monitor daily tee sheets at least 11 days in advance to ensure maximum utilization and fairness in bookings.
  1. Golf Calendar Development:
  • Develop and distribute the Summer and Winter Golf Calendars, pending approval from the Director of Golf.
  1. Mentorship & Leadership:
  • Act as a mentor and leader to subordinates through active leadership, one-on-ones, open communication, guidance, and training.
  1. Scheduling & Leave Management:
  • Ensure fairness in colleague scheduling and prevent shortfalls in operational requirements.
  • Compile annual leave planning for all colleagues in line with HR policies.
  1. Golf Tournament Financials:
  • Maintain and manage golf tournament P&L's to track profit and loss figures for all club events.
  1. 59Club Results Monitoring:
  • Monitor 59Club results for both inside and outside service sub-departments and report improvements to the Director of Golf.
  1. Club Communications:
  • Prepare official communications to members/guests as required.
  1. Reporting & Documentation:
  • Ensure accurate departmental reporting including inventory, buggy maintenance, rental sets, procurement, etc.
  1. Banqueting & Events Meetings:
  • Attend all banqueting and events meetings for F&B requirements during golf days.
  1. Revenue Monitoring:
  • Assist the Director of Golf in monitoring rounds and revenues and recommend growth opportunities.
  1. Asset Management:
  • Oversee the upkeep of golf department assets, including carts, trollies, range furniture, digital signage, tournament computers, iPads, and more.
  1. Member & Guest Feedback:
  • Assist with member and guest complaints/feedback, implementing solutions to concerns.
  1. Golf Tournament Manual Maintenance:
  • Ensure the Golf Tournament Manual is updated with new processes and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education:
  • A degree in Hospitality Management, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in golf operations, event management, or customer service roles.
  • Experience managing corporate or club golf tournaments.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on member satisfaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of golf operations, including tee time management, golf tournament setup, and event planning.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Familiarity with golf management software (e.g., Golf Genius, Golf Operations).
  • Ability to mentor and manage a team, including interns and staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.
