The Assistant Manager, Business Intelligence will play a critical role in shaping data-driven strategic decision-making across DP World's GCC portfolio. The role goes beyond traditional reporting and trade analytics, focusing on holistic market intelligence, external environment assessment, strategic insights, and multi-business unit analysis.
This position will act as a strategic thought partner to Commercial, Strategy, and Business Unit leadership by translating complex data, market signals, and competitive dynamics into actionable insights, strategic narratives, and executive-level business decks. The role will support DP World's long-term growth by identifying market opportunities, emerging threats, structural shifts in trade, and cross-portfolio synergies across ports, terminals, and logistics assets in the GCC and Levant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Business Intelligence & Portfolio Analysis
- Develop an integrated business intelligence framework that provides a portfolio-wide view across DP World GCC business units.
- Conduct strategic analysis to identify cross-BU trends, interdependencies, and growth levers at a regional level.
- Support leadership with forward-looking insights rather than backward-looking reporting.
2. Trade & Market Intelligence Development
- Build and maintain advanced trade intelligence dashboards, analytical models, and reporting tools.
- Regularly assess trade flows across Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Tartous, and other GCC/Levant assets to identify structural shifts, emerging corridors, key commodities, and major shippers.
- Interpret trade data within broader macroeconomic and geopolitical contexts.
3. External Environment, Risks & Opportunities
- Monitor and analyze external threats and opportunities, including geopolitical developments, regulatory changes, competitive capacity additions, shipping alliances, and supply chain reconfigurations.
- Identify volume, revenue, and strategic risks across O&D trades and propose mitigation or capture strategies.
- Provide early-warning insights to support proactive decision-making.
4. Market, Economic & Industry Research
- Track and analyze global, regional, and local economic indicators impacting trade, ports, and logistics performance.
- Produce concise market updates and strategic briefs on key industries, trade lanes, and growth markets relevant to DP World GCC.
5. Commodity, Vertical & Growth Strategy Support
- Support the development of commodity- and vertical-specific strategies across DP World GCC.
- Identify white-space opportunities for cargo growth, customer acquisition, and value-added logistics solutions across business units.
6. Competitive Benchmarking & Strategic Positioning
- Conduct competitor and peer benchmarking across regional and global ports and logistics players.
- Identify competitive gaps, structural advantages, and differentiation opportunities.
- Support strategic positioning discussions for DP World GCC assets.
7. Business Case & Strategic Deck Development
- Support the development of strategic business cases, investment narratives, and value propositions.
- Create high-impact, leadership-ready presentations and strategy decks for senior management, boards, and key stakeholders.
- Translate data and analysis into clear strategic stories and recommendations.
8. Performance, Forecasting & Scenario Analysis
- Prepare periodic performance reports, variance analysis, and management dashboards.
- Support volume forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis across DP World GCC ports.
- Develop sensitivity and scenario models to assess potential market outcomes.
9. Data Governance & Reporting Excellence
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of trade and commercial data across systems.
- Work closely with IT and data teams to enhance data availability, automation, and reporting quality.
- Continuously improve BI tools, dashboards, and analytical methodologies.
10. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Commercial, Strategy, Operations, Finance, and Business Unit teams.
- Act as a central intelligence node, aligning insights across functions and business units.
- Support senior leadership with timely insights and structured recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, Supply Chain, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, strategy, market research, or commercial analytics, preferably within ports, logistics, shipping, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong capability in strategic analysis, data storytelling, and executive-level presentations.
- Advanced proficiency in BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of trade flows, logistics value chains, and market dynamics.
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
