Job Description

Barakat Group of Companies is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Commercial Finance to drive the financial and commercial performance of our eCommerce business, while also supporting selected Group-level commercial finance initiatives.

The role will have end-to-end responsibility for eCommerce P&L oversight, profitability, pricing, margin management, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and commercial decision support, together with responsibilities covering Group procurement analytics, incentive governance and HORECA contractual pricing.

This is a commercially focused finance role for someone who can go beyond reporting and translate financial data into actionable business decisions.

What You'll Do:

P&L & Commercial Finance

  • Take ownership of the eCommerce P&L and monitor revenue, gross profit, contribution margin, OPEX and EBITDA.
  • Review customer, product/SKU and category profitability and identify margin improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with business teams to deliver budget, profitability and EBITDA targets.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

MIS, Reporting & Financial Control

  • Oversee month-end closing for the eCommerce business.
  • Review revenue, COGS, inventory, accruals, provisions, rebates, discounts, returns, logistics, wastage and OPEX.
  • Review monthly MIS and challenge Actual vs Budget vs Forecast vs Prior Year variances.
  • Ensure accuracy of key financial KPIs and management reporting.

Pricing, Margin & Commercial Governance

  • Review pricing, promotions, discounts and margin proposals.
  • Govern contractual buying dealsheets and annual pricing approvals for HORECA customers.
  • Monitor customer and product margins against approved targets.
  • Identify and address margin erosion and commercial deviations.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead and review annual budgeting and periodic forecasting for eCommerce.
  • Challenge assumptions relating to revenue, margins, OPEX, CAPEX, manpower, working capital and EBITDA.
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to support business decisions.

Cost & Inventory

  • Review OPEX and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Analyse inventory ageing, wastage, expiry, shrinkage, damages, markdowns and write-offs.
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain to resolve inventory variances and improve financial performance.

Group Procurement Cost Analysis

  • Analyse procurement price variance across products, categories and business units.
  • Monitor contractual vs non-contractual buying and identify opportunities for improved procurement compliance.
  • Analyse mode-of-buying deviations and their financial implications.
  • Manage Group incentive workings, approvals and coordination with HR and Payroll.

Business Partnering & Strategic Projects

  • Lead and guide the commercial finance team responsible for MIS and analysis.
  • Partner with eCommerce, Procurement, Sales, Supply Chain and other Group functions.
  • Review business cases for new initiatives, categories, channels and investments.
  • Evaluate ROI, NPV, payback, break-even and sensitivity analysis where applicable.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear commercial actions.

What We're Looking For :

  • CA, ACCA, CPA, MBA Finance or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, Business Finance or Financial Planning.
  • 4–5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in eCommerce, Retail, FMCG, Food, Distribution or another high-volume transactional business.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong financial modelling skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI is desirable.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and convert financial analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong team leadership, review discipline and attention to detail.
