Assistant Manager, Operations

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Assistant Manager, Operations to lead day-to-day warehouse and logistics activities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing teams, improving operational processes, solving complex problems, and working closely with customers and vendors. You will play an important part in ensuring smooth operations, strong service performance, cost control, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide site and shift leadership across warehouse, logistics, transportation, and customer service operations
- Supervise operational teams and ensure daily performance targets are achieved
- Improve inbound and outbound logistics processes to increase efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement, waste reduction, and workplace safety initiatives
- Manage transporters, labour agencies, and other third-party vendors
- Ensure vendors comply with agreed service level agreements
- Monitor manpower requirements, overtime approvals, and daily operating costs
- Lead recruitment, staff selection, coaching, and performance management
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, cargo damage claims, and service failures
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Manage annual stocktakes and disposal activities
- Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues

- Ability to manage high-pressure situations
- Ability to handle tight delivery deadlines and sudden volume increases

- A practical, hands-on approach to operations
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management or an equivalent discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant industry experience
- At least 2 to 3 years of people-management and leadership experience
- Experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, supply chain, or operations
Preferred Qualifications
These are advantageous but not essential:
- Forklift licence
- VNA licence
- Workplace Safety and Health certifications
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems
