Job Description

2. ROLE PURPOSE:

To underwrite a profitable book of Property business with a specific focus on Industrial sector, Power sector and Commercial Properties

3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Description

  • Responsible for achieving International Division's budget for Property LOB.

  • Underwrite risks that are consistent with Company's underwriting philosophy and risk appetite.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners (brokers & cedants).

  • Renewal management - Ensure the renewal process including negotiations with brokers and cedants are concluded smoothly.

  • Ensure excellent service levels are delivered to business partners.

  • Actively support in preparation of annual budget for Property line of business in line with organization's growth and underwriting philosophy

  • Underwriting thought process and rationales to be properly documented

  • Structured and regular follow ups with business partners on new business enquiries and renewals.

  • Interact with other verticals within International Division for cross selling and up selling

  • Ensure Internal Guidelines are fully complied

  • Ensure business is booked in proper and timely manner

  • Contribute in preparation of MIS/ad hoc reports

  • Provide necessary support to other departments such as Claims, finance, reinsurance etc. when required

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

Bachelor's Degree (with any stream of engineering degree would be preferred) / ACII/FIII

Minimum Experience: 5 – 7 years of proven Property underwriting experience.

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Good knowledge of property including steel, power, cement, chemical etc underwriting and risk engineering
  • Market knowledge/Intelligence
  • Relationship Management and Networking with business partners.
  • Good computer skills
  • Working under tight timelines and pressure during business seasons.
