Job Purpose
As the Assistant Manager - Financial Risk, you will support in the identification, assessment, and management of all financial risks within the bank, covering market, liquidity, credit, and interest rate risks. You will help develop and implement robust risk management frameworks, policies, and strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the bank's strategic objectives. This role also focuses on delivering comprehensive risk analytics and ensuring the bank's analytical needs are met in line with regulations
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, monitor, and report the overall financial risk profile of the bank, ensuring it remains within board-approved risk appetite.
- Develop, implement, and manage risk models for various risk areas and new products, and ensure a sound model governance framework.
- Support the Head of Financial Risk in maintaining policies and frameworks for Credit, Market, Interest Rate, Model, Counterparty, Regulatory, and Liquidity Risk.
- Collaborate with software vendors/technology teams on UAT, issue resolution, and product enhancement projects.
- Manage and review market risk policies, procedures, and risk measurement tools, supporting the treasury as the second line of defense.
- Oversee valuations for the bank's investment portfolio and monitor market risk exposure limits.
- Perform counterparty credit risk assessments for non-traditional financial institutions and fintechs.
- Ensure calculation and maintenance of loan provisions (ECL) and support implementation of the Credit Risk Management framework.
- Monitor the liquidity risk management framework in line with Basel III requirements (ELAR, ASRR, LCR, NSFR, GAP reports).
- Conduct comprehensive regulatory risk reporting, stress testing, and scenario analyses.
- Prepare relevant sections of the bank's financial statements and regulatory disclosures (ICAAP, RRP, Basel III, IFRS9).
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Mathematics.
- At least 7 years of experience in banking or financial services.
- Certification in Finance & Risk (CFA, FRM) is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in advanced Excel, Bloomberg, Quantum (or any Treasury platform), and Credit Risk Management solutions.
- Programming skills in R, Python, or VBA.
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong communication, customer focus, teamwork, and business acumen.
