JOB PURPOSE:

Assist in shaping & implementing the educational strategy for the school.

JOB SCOPE:

To support the High School Principal in all aspects of the day-to-day operating the Middle or Upper school, play a leading role om Executive Leadership Team supporting the Head of School/CEO leading the who strategically, operationally and financially.

  • To assist the High School Principal in shaping a vision and direction for the school, setting out very high expectations and with a clear focus on pupil achievement, standards and quality of teaching.
  • To play significant role in setting aims and objectives for the school and in formulation the School Improvement Plan along with the Elem. Principal, HOS/CEO and other senior staff.
  • To inspire and motivate and influence staff/pupils, taking a leading role in maintaining the highest standards of learning and teaching and behaviour management.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of GAAQ and GEMS
  • Ensure that GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
  • Organize and implement CPD opportunities for staff.
  • Preliminarily approve staff for optional GEMS PD (final approval will be the HOS/CEO) ; and monitor completion of required PD for all staff KG1-Grade 12
  • Submit annual SPDL report to corporate office
  • Effectively use data to identify and support student academic or behavioral needs
  • Monitor school climate to promote and support positive staff and student morale
  • Assist with organizing the yearly curriculum/ supply & school resources order
  • Regularly analyze and share data to support grade levels in adjusting instruction
  • Ensure school discipline policies are followed for MS & HS
  • Attend team meetings with MS/HS as needed and attend GTL (Learning Lead) meetings
  • To provide an excellent role model for all members of staff and the student body in all aspects of school life.
  • Work with admissions department to review student applications and participate in admissions activities
  • Collaborate with other members of SLT regarding scheduling, parent communication, report cards/ grades, etc.
  • Assist with planning and executing external assessments such as MAP, TIMS, etc.
  • Work with the various school committees
  • Assist with organizing and facilitating external accreditation visits and reviews
  • Meet with parents as needed to discuss academic and behavioural issues
  • Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks required additional commitment.
  • Attend project / staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers

  • Curriculum and assessment expertise.
  • Revise and monitor instruction pacing related to curriculum map.
  • Develop and program evaluation and professional development system for staff.
  • Analyze teacher evaluations to identify support and coaching cycles as needed.
  • Be an active part of conducting teacher evaluations.
  • Monitor and revise staff duty schedules to ensure student safety.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others, including the ability to communicate effectively with broad and diverse audiences.
  • Ability to handle a fast –paced, intense work environment
  • Ability/willingness to work a daily schedule that demands an extended workday.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Expected Qualifications:

  • A college Degree from a reputed university is desirable (BA or BSc) ; Master's degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or related field strongly preferred.

Expected Experience:

  • Leadership experience; minimum 6 years in a reputable school.
  • Relationship management experience – able to build and influence professional relationships with peer group as well as parental community.
  • Effective communicator (written and spoken)
  • Interpersonal skills, able to operate in a diverse environment

Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Solid time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and cope with peaks of demand
  • Strong ICT skills ; Advanced user of Microsoft Office and able to utilise technology well to present facts to the management.
