Job Description

Position Title: Assistant Professor, Business

Job Family: Faculty

Division/Department/Unit: College of Business

Reports To (Title): Dean/Department Chair

SECTION I: JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Professor role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, ensuring academic support and maintaining high-performance levels. Responsibilities include program coordination and leading research in a specialized area to enhance Abu Dhabi University's (ADU) profile and contribute to local and international knowledge development. The role emphasizes diverse pedagogical methods, instructional strategies, and fostering holistic student development, aligned with the university's mission, vision, and values.

SECTION II: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

  • Acquires and applies new competencies in the area of specialization.
  • Ensures course reviews and program delivery comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Employs learner-centered approaches to promote student growth and academic development.
  • Integrates innovative pedagogical strategies and digital technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Provides feedback on course content to improve relevance and effectiveness.
  • Prepares quality-assured course files aligned with CAA standards.
  • Supports low-performing students through structured teaching methodologies and co-curricular activities.

Leadership and Service

  • Effectively manages non-teaching assignments and demonstrates collegiate behavior.
  • Contributes to strategic planning and intervention programs to improve student retention.
  • Participates in recruitment and business development activities, including open days and workshops.
  • Builds external networks to foster partnerships with international institutions and industries.
  • Develops and manages student internships and employability initiatives.
  • Engages in extracurricular activities, including mentoring and inter-college competitions.

Research and Innovation

  • Conducts high-quality research and publishes in peer-reviewed journals ranked Q2 or above.
  • Engages in innovation and pedagogic research that enhances ADU's rankings.
  • Participates in education policy committees and academic/industry networks.
  • Presents research at leading universities and international conferences.
  • Involves undergraduate and postgraduate students in research and enterprise activities.

SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Minimum Educational Qualifications: PhD in Business or a related field from a reputable, accredited institution.

Experience: At least 2 years in the rank of Assistant Professor in higher education or recent PhD graduates with over 3 years of research assistant experience from reputable universities.

Language Proficiency: English, depending on the program delivery language.

Special Skills and Abilities: Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, Teamwork, Digital Literacy.
