Location: Al Ain Campus and may need to teach in Abu Dhabi.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Instruction and Curriculum Delivery
- Teach courses assigned by the department across undergraduate and/or graduate architecture programs, including studios, lectures, or seminars.
- Prepare course syllabi, content, assessments, and grading in accordance with university academic policies.
- Ensure all course learning outcomes (CLOs) are appropriately assessed and aligned with program learning outcomes (PLOs).
- Supervise assigned student projects, including capstone design or thesis work.
- Maintain required teaching documentation and submit grades and reports on time.
- Research and Scholarly/Creative Activity
- Engage in research or creative/professional practice aligned with the discipline of architecture.
- Maintain an active research output, with peer-reviewed publications in recognized academic journals, with preference for Q1 journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science.
- Contribute to research visibility of the institution through funded projects, exhibitions, competitions, or applied work.
- Participate in institutional research KPIs and contribute to annual faculty research planning and reporting requirements.
- Service and Academic Contribution
- - Serve on academic committees at the department, college, or university level as assigned.
- - Participate in program review, curriculum development, accreditation documentation, and quality assurance processes.
- - Provide academic advising to students as allocated by the department.
- - Support student and departmental activities including juries, exhibitions, reviews, and public lectures.
- - Contribute to the institution's community engagement or professional outreach initiatives where applicable.
Minimum Requirements
- Master of Architecture (M.Arch) or equivalent terminal degree in architecture from a recognized institution. A PhD is preferred but not mandatory.
- Documented experience in architectural design teaching (e.g., studio coordination, course instruction).
- Evidence of ongoing research and creative output.
- Proficiency in relevant architectural software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite, etc.).
Desirable Qualifications
- PhD in Architecture or related discipline.
- Professional architectural registration (e.g., RA, RIBA, AIA, etc.).
- Experience with accreditation systems such as NAAB, RIBA, or UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).
- Industry experience or consultancy in architectural design, urbanism, digital fabrication, or related fields.
- Performance Expectations
- Fulfillment of teaching load and course outcomes in accordance with the department's teaching plan.
- Annual research output as per faculty KPIs (e.g., Scopus-indexed Q1/Q2 publication, creative work with recognized impact, or funded project).
- Active participation in service duties and institutional development.
- Compliance with all academic regulations, code of conduct, and policies of the institution.
