Job Purpose
Teach and mentor undergraduate students in the Mechanical Engineering program within the School of Engineering and Computing. The position contributes to AIU's mission of developing technically proficient and globally minded graduates through effective instruction, research, and service to the university community.
Key Responsibilities
. Teach undergraduate courses such as Dynamic Modelling and Control Systems, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Senior Design Projects
. Supervise and mentor undergraduate student projects and research initiatives
. Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement activities
. Engage in research and scholarly work aligned with the field of mechanical engineering
. Participate in academic advising and student mentorship programs
. Serve on departmental, school, and university committees
. Foster a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment
Required Skills and Qualifications
. Excellent communication and instructional skills in English (language of instruction is English)
. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, and student success
. Ability and willingness to collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines
. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
. Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
Education and Experience
. PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field required
. University-level teaching experience preferred
. Active research or professional engagement in the field desirable
