Department Profile:

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering offers broad-based degree programs complemented by a wide range of research activities. We are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and in providing service to the community. The Department offers two undergraduate majors Industrial and Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We also provide several graduate study opportunities in our Masters and Ph.D. programs. The Department has excellent specialized laboratories, workshops, and computing facilities in various disciplines and comprises an outstanding team of faculty members and supporting staff. Many of our academics are widely recognized international authorities in their respective areas of expertise. They are actively engaged in both scholarly activities and create a conducive and creative environment suitable for a pleasant student learning and teaching experience. Students of the Department get the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to real-world engineering problems that, along with their classroom and laboratory work, prepare them with the life-long learning skills that make them attractive recruits to employers after graduation. They participate in out-of-class activities like the Shell Eco-Marathon competition, and the Life is Engineering program. Students receive support to attend international conferences and to visit other universities overseas. The Engineering Accreditation Commissions accredit our Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering programs EAC of ABET.

Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Qatar University seeks candidates for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Human Factors, Ergonomics, and Decision Making. The position requires a focus on improving human-technology interactions, optimizing decision-making processes, and enhancing system performance in various industrial and systems engineering settings.

1- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to human factors, ergonomics, and decision-making

2- Supervise research projects and theses at the undergraduate and graduate levels

3- Contribute to the research profile of the college through research grants and publications

4- Assist in the community service, marketing, and outreach activities of the department programs

5- Contribute to various committees at the department, college, and university level

6- Engage in professional development activities/training to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay updated about advancements in the field.

7- Contribute to curriculum development and program accreditation activities in the department.

8- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department
