Overview of HSBC Infrastructure Finance Infrastructure Finance:

The global HSBC Infrastructure Finance (HIF) team, part of Global Corporate and Institutional Banking, comprises of Infrastructure Finance (IF) and Export Finance (EF) product verticals. HIF provides a full suite of financing solutions to corporates, financial sponsors, financial institutions and governments in a variety of sectors, including Energy Transition, Infrastructure / Digital Infrastructure, Transportation, Power and Utilities, Renewables, and Petrochemicals, among others. The team acts as a central point for clients to access product agnostic advice on financing, capital structure and structured debt capital markets, as well as origination and execution of infrastructure, project and export finance lending mandates.

The HIF consists of over 160 employees located in 14 countries with key hubs in London, Riyadh, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York. Certain hubs are supported by a pool of Analysts and Associates. The IF team within HIF consists of 85 employees globally, with 8 bankers in Riyadh and additional 5 in the pool.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), HIF is represented through a market leading on-the-ground IF team of HSBC Saudi Arabia, whose principal focus is to (i) advise KSA-based and international clients on infrastructure finance debt raising, (ii) advise the KSA Government and key clients on procurement of PPP / BOOT transactions, and (iii) support HSBC Group entities and Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB), an HSBC affiliate in KSA, for infrastructure finance balance sheet deployment. The IF team is also involved in origination of ECA-backed transactions in cooperation with HSBC's Export Finance team in Dubai that has the wider responsibility for originating and structuring such transactions in the Middle East, North Africa and Trkiye (MENAT) region.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join our growing IF business in Riyadh. This role will be central to originating, advising, structuring and executing transactions across large-scale infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capability, in-depth credit understanding and practical experience in infrastructure financing.

The role will be supporting the Riyadh and Dubai based teams in the origination and execution of IF transactions in KSA. The position will report into the Co-Head of Infrastructure Finance, MENAT based in KSA.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Origination, in coordination with product and coverage teams, as well as SAB, of infrastructure financing advisory and debt arrangement opportunities in KSA.
  • Lead or support, as relevant, execution of infrastructure financing mandates, in collaboration with other relevant teams.
  • Collaborate effectively across multi-functional teams to deliver HSBC's universal banking product range to clients, maximizing cross-sell opportunities.
  • Conduct industry and company-specific research and share market trends, knowledge and ideas with the relevant teams.
  • Facilitate a variety of deliverables, including pitch books, letters of interest, term sheets, mandate letters, due diligence, and facility documentation, including coordination with internal stakeholders on transaction specific matters (legal, compliance, risk, sustainability and reputational risk, markets sales etc.).
  • Assist the team with reporting or managing information requests.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of the junior resource pool through active knowledge sharing, mentoring, training through optimal level of delegation.
  • Originate syndication & distribution of KSA-related infrastructure finance transactions.
  • Negotiate facility documentation with clients and counterparties, in close liaison with other teams.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in Business / Finance / Engineering
  • CFA charter will be considered a plus

Experience

  • Over 3 years of experience and track record in project / infrastructure financing transactions. Infrastructure advisory experience can be considered as well.
  • Experience with transactions in the KSA or the wider Middle East region; understanding of the local / regional infrastructure financing market and relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience in Energy Transition sectors and loan distribution will be an advantage

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication including presentations (in English) and interpersonal skills, with ability to digest / communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner and influence stakeholders within and outside the organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a strong commercial orientation and understanding across various debt products, including loans, bonds, ratings and derivatives
  • Project management skills with ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Arabic will be an advantage.
