The jobholder leads the energy modeling team in the Sustainability Sector in K&A (UAE), ensuring the delivery of projects in adherence to local and international standards of sustainability. Externally, the jobholder will lead sustainability activities to ensure that engineering designs improve energy efficiency and cost savings for end-users, including energy conservation measures and projects, and the estimation of project costs, payback periods, and return on investment. S/He will guide the execution of energy audits to inspect the efficient use of energy and to monitor energy conservation projects on-site to ensure specifications are met. Internally, the jobholder will lead K&A's (UAE) energy reduction program and green energy procurement strategies, and policy formulation. The jobholder plans, oversees, tracks, and monitors greenhouse gas reduction measures and evaluates products, services, and programs to quantify their impact on meeting environmental and climate protection goals.

Key Responsibilities (Customer Focus)
- Support the Director - Sustainability in identifying, suggesting, and designing sustainability workshops, training courses, and course content for internal and external counterparts, as needed
- Participate in organizing and delivering sustainability workshops for internal and external counterparts in coordination with the Senior Manager - Sustainability
- Support the design and delivery of training sessions for K&A design teams on LEED principles and preparation for LEED certification exams
- Support the delivery of sustainability awareness sessions to K&A design teams and staff, in coordination with the Senior Manager - Sustainability
- Support the Director - Sustainability with the management of client relations and expectations, including the management and response to client inquiries on technical and contractual issues
- Ensure client satisfaction with the sustainability services, as required by project scopes and clients requirements
- Ensure provision of high-quality sustainability services to internal counterparts in the firm
- Maintain and update a repository of relevant regional sustainability-related regulations, codes, and programs (e.g. ESTIDAMA)
Key Responsibilities (Internal Business Process)
- Support the Director - Sustainability with the development of proposals for sustainability services, as needed
- Review RfPs and define project scopes, capacity, and capability required to deliver projects, man-hour estimates, outsourcing needs, and estimated project delivery costs during the sustainability proposal development stages
- Contact, obtain quotations, and recommend external specialty suppliers for sustainability proposals, as needed
- Recommend staffing of energy management engineers to projects as per project scope and client requirements, in coordination with the Senior Manager - Sustainability
- Support the Director - Sustainability with the development of sustainability projects, schedule baselines, scope baselines, man-hour allocation, and project budgets before project initiation
- Develop sustainability projects, delivery methodologies, and frameworks related to the commissioning scope of work
- Represent the project team as the main point of contact during the sustainability energy scope of work
- Provide expert judgment and analyses for engineering design to ensure the owner's requirements are fully documented, minimize first cost, improve energy efficiencies, ensure standards are met, and coordinate electrical and control requirements
- Guide the technical analyses, calculations and research to support proof of concept, energy optimization, carbon analysis, daylight and shading design, simulations, water balance modeling, materials recommendations, and drawing and specification review
- Evaluate the design of building mechanical, electrical and architectural systems by analyzing drawings and specifications in terms of energy efficiency
- Develop and maintain energy based payback and life cycle cost calculations and modeling tools
- Develop and maintain performance curves and coefficients for EnergyPlus, EnergyPro, eQuest, Trace and HAP
- Analyze potential renewable energy sources
- Lead the energy analysis and thermal load simulations to determine feasible design changes and lead the calculation of potential energy savings and related recommendations
- Develop design recommendations for clients to implement the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible green building strategies
- Derive sustainability options for new buildings and existing structures
- Coordinate building commissioning activities to ensure building systems meet the design intent and expectations of the owner by assigning a building commissioner, assigning commissioning support staff and scheduling commissioning activities around building use
- Write and install energy management routines for building automation systems
- Perform energy audits, including ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 audits, and author reports
- Conduct energy audits on buildings in coordination with contractors and site teams
- Analyze existing building systems and collect data on building operation, HVAC, electrical, lighting and controls to determine energy usage and efficiency
- Review MEP / HVAC systems and operations to certify adherence of Building's MEP systems to environmental KPIs and targets
- Develop project progress reports related to the energy scope of work and monitor project progress against schedule and budget
- Develop sustainability reports, drawings and findings and present to clients
- Implement corporate policies and procedures
Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Sustainability rating certification (LEED-AP (BD+C) or other specialty, PQP, etc.).
- CEM and PMP
- Masters in Energy Management
- Knowledge of the Architecture, Engineering and Planning Industry, specifically the sustainability field
- Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to review energy modeling analysis reports
- Experience with DOE-2, EnergyPlus, eQuest, EnergyPro and Trace
- Strong energy modeling and excel skills are required.
- HVAC background, basic programming and rules based engineering experience
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage
