Job Description

Job Purpose

To recruit outstanding faculty members in Biomedical and Life Sciences who will advance Khalifa University's mission in education, research, and innovation within the Department of Medical Sciences. The successful candidates will contribute to high-impact research, excellence in teaching, and the development of academic programs in areas such as Healthy Aging, Reproductive Health, and Nutritional Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Research

  • Conduct innovative, high-quality research in one or more of the following areas:
  • Healthy Aging
  • Reproductive Health
  • Nutritional Medicine
  • Develop an independent and sustainable research program aligned with translational and clinical applications.
  • Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Secure external research funding from national and international agencies or industry partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the research profile of the department and college.

Teaching & Supervision

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical and life sciences and related fields.
  • Contribute to existing and emerging academic programs, including:
  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Translational Medicine focus)
  • Master's in clinical research
  • Bachelor in Nutritional Medicine (upcoming)
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. students.
  • Foster a stimulating, inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking and scientific inquiry.

Academic Service & Leadership

  • Participate in curriculum development, academic accreditation processes, and program quality assurance.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Contribute to professional and scientific communities through conference organization, editorial roles, and professional bodies.
  • Support the growth and visibility of a young, dynamic college with multiple PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's programs and world-class research facilities.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant postdoctoral or academic experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fundamental or applied research in one of the targeted areas (Healthy Aging, Reproductive Health, Nutritional Medicine or closely related fields).
  • Strong record of scholarly publications in leading international journals.
  • Evidence of research independence or strong potential to establish a competitive research program.
  • Experience and commitment to high-quality teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

Desirable

  • Education and/or academic service in distinguished institutions of higher education.
  • Proven ability to obtain external research funding.
  • Experience supervising students at different levels (undergraduate, Master's, Ph.D.).
  • Participation in academic accreditation and curriculum development.
  • Membership in relevant professional and scientific societies.
  • Involvement in conference committees, journal editorial boards, or similar academic service roles.
  • Physician-scientists and surgeon-scientists are especially encouraged to apply.
