Associate Vice President Legal

Drive Legal Excellence, Shape Strategic Impact

As Associate Vice President Legal, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Bank's legal operations meet the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will:

  • Lead all legal tasks for the Bank, delivering timely, precise, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Review and recommend updates to the Bank's legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Ensure all legal materials comply with internal policies, regulatory frameworks, and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports, summaries, and statutory documentation to support management and regulatory needs.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across business units to help meet organizational goals.
  • Mentor, guide, and manage junior legal team members and interns to strengthen the team's capabilities.
  • Work independently, handling complex legal matters as the senior-most lawyer under the General Counsel.
  • Oversee the consistency and quality of legal advice provided across the department.
  • Contribute to improvements in legal processes, customer service, and overall team effectiveness.
  • Support business continuity efforts, ensuring the legal department's preparedness for incidents or disruptions.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in law.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in the legal profession, ideally with exposure to banking or financial services.
  • Strong oral and written communication able to present complex legal matters clearly and confidently.
  • Sharp analytical skills, using data and insights to identify issues and offer sound legal solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of legal policies, regulatory requirements, and statutory obligations in the UAE.
  • Detailed specialist knowledge with the ability to assess risks, interpret laws, and provide expert advice.
  • Strong customer relationship management.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to change.
  • Effective team collaborator.
  • Skilled in managing and using information effectively.
  • Leadership Ability:
  • Capable of independently managing legal tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and elevate the performance of legal team members.
