Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented ATC / Signalling Expert to join our team!

The ATC / Signalling Expert will be responsible for the design, coordination, installation oversight, and testing of advanced train control and signalling systems for a major express railway project. The role ensures that all ATC/CBTC systems are delivered in accordance with project requirements, international standards, and operational objectives, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient railway operations.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and support the design and development of ATC and signalling systems, including CBTC/ETCS (as applicable), interlocking, train protection, and control systems
  • Oversee installation and testing of ATC/CBTC systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and programme requirements
  • Coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure timely and accurate installation of signalling equipment
  • Review and interpret technical specifications, design drawings, and system documentation
  • Coordinate and supervise testing and commissioning activities to verify system functionality and performance
  • Identify, document, and resolve issues during installation, testing, and commissioning phases
  • Maintain accurate records of contractor activities, installation progress, and system performance
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and project requirements
  • Conduct inspections and support safety audits to ensure adherence to safety protocols
  • Ensure integration of signalling systems with other rail systems including rolling stock, telecom, power supply, and OCC
  • Support Systems Engineering processes including requirements definition, allocation, and traceability
  • Ensure compliance with EN 50126 / EN 50128 / EN 50129 and relevant international standards
  • Contribute to RAMS, System Assurance, and safety case development
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP), and value engineering exercises
  • Support preparation and review of technical specifications, employer's requirements, and tender documentation
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, operators, and authorities to ensure system compatibility and approvals
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support multidisciplinary coordination
  • Support interface coordination with stations and operational environments, including airport interfaces where applicable.

What Required Skills You'll Bring


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Railway Engineering, or related field from a recognized university
  • (Associate degree / technical diploma with extensive experience may be considered)
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in ATC/CBTC signalling systems within the rail industry
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in rail projects and/or rail operations (GCC or international experience preferred)
  • Proven experience in CBTC, ETCS, or equivalent high-capacity signalling systems
  • Strong hands-on experience in installation, testing, and commissioning of signalling systems
  • Experience overseeing contractor works related to installation and testing of electronic and signalling systems
  • Good understanding of interlocking systems, track circuits, radio systems, and cab signalling
  • Strong experience in system integration and multidisciplinary interface management
  • Experience in Systems Engineering processes, requirements management, and V&V
  • Strong knowledge of RAMS and System Assurance processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electronic and signalling systems
  • Experience working on large-scale rail infrastructure programmes
