Job Summary
The AutoCAD & SolidWorks Expert will be responsible for creating accurate 2D drawings and parametric 3D models of thermal insulation jackets for industrial equipment. The role combines CAD design, on-site measurements, practical engineering adjustments, and close coordination with production teams to ensure designs are accurate, functional, and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Create accurate 2D mechanical drawings and parametric 3D models of thermal insulation jackets using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Develop detailed equipment geometries, including flanges, valves, elbows, and other industrial components.
- Build multi-layer jacket assemblies, including outer covers, insulation layers, and inner liners.
- Conduct frequent site visits to industrial facilities to take precise equipment measurements and document installation conditions.
- Take and organize site photographs and technical measurements to support accurate modeling and design development.
- Modify and optimize designs based on real-world fit, accessibility, installation requirements, and site constraints.
- Utilize AI-assisted design tools to support modeling, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
- Prepare clear technical drawings, specifications, and production-ready documentation.
- Coordinate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, repeatable, and easy to manufacture and assemble.
- Communicate with site engineers and production teams to resolve technical and design-related issues.
Minimum Requirements
- No specific engineering degree is required.
- Practical CAD design, mechanical modeling, and technical drawing skills will be prioritized.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in CAD design, mechanical modeling, technical design, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is required.
- Experience working with industrial equipment, mechanical components, insulation systems, or customized fabrication is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to understand real-world installation and manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently for site visits.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, particularly for 2D layouts and equipment references.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, dimensions, assemblies, and 3D modeling.
- Ability to develop parametric models and multi-layer assemblies.
- Ability to translate physical measurements and site conditions into accurate CAD models.
- Experience using AI tools to support design and documentation workflows.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work with AI-assisted design and productivity tools.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to accurately measure and document industrial equipment on-site.
- Ability to visualize complex equipment geometries and translate them into accurate 3D models.
